By: Paul zayer

I recall when I was just a young child the living room piano was full of Christmas cards. I was filled with enjoyment. Christmas cards start arriving the week after Thanksgiving. I really like to display Christmas cards all during December. I pin them to red ribbons and they hang everywhere. Every year, the number of Christmas cards I receive usually increases by 50 percent. I presently send out about seventy five three cards to family and friends and receive about sixty.

I like Christmas cards because they seem to come from all points over the globe. I have made many friends over the years and have been very vigilant to remember to include them all in my mailing of Christmas cards each year. I like to let everyone special in my life to know that I don't forget them and think about them.

My favorite Christmas cards are the handmade ones. Those are the only ones that I have ever done anything beyond saving them in a large envelope with all the others from that year. I have taken a few of the super creative Christmas cards and had them framed for display. My favorite handmade Christmas card comes from my daughter. I had framed the best one which featured two sparkling trees .

I like all Christmas cards. They are a way for family and friends to tell each other that they are still thought of and cared about. I don't usually display the bulk Christmas cards with plain pictures in my living room, though. I'm also not a big fan of overly religious Christmascards. I don't put the Christmas cards with nativity scenes out in my den.

Adding sparkles and glitter to Christmas cards look wonderful. All of the extra embellishments are what makes them so special. In addition to the appearance of the card, I like to send and receive cards with personal notes inside. Good news from old friends are always welcome. And when photos are included, it makes me feel like I am part of my friends' lives.

I encourage my children to send out their own Christmas cards to their friends. Even if their friends don't reciprocate, yet, someday they will. My children design their own Christmas cards with craft items and white tags. My daughter prefers using stamps and ink to make Christmas cards. My son prefers to glue various shiny things to create his work of art.
