What Do You See When You Take The Mirror Health Test?

By: Gen Wright

Even with all the advancements in health care we may wonder why people are still gaining weight. How is it that we can replace a heart yet we cannot combat the number one reason for heart disease? With all the billions of dollars spent on research, all the doctors, tests, procedures, surgeries and drugs we should all be in the peak of good health.

Yet you only have to look around your immediate family and friends to see this is not so. So many people are in a downward spiral of declining health. It is estimated that 50 percent of us has one chronic disease or illness and many more have multiple conditions. A whopping two thirds of us are overweight to some degree. Many more lack energy, feel lousy and unmotivated to be active in any way.

How about we take this a step further and make it a little more personal. Have you taken a look at yourself in the mirror lately and if so how are you doing? Are you happy with the way you look? How about how you feel? Are you overweight and do not have enough energy and 'get up and go' to do everything in life that you would like too?

Whatever answers you come up with to these questions you can be sure you only need to look to your own personal lifestyle in the way of proper exercise and healthy eating habits to either keep you well and healthy or lead you down a path to disease and aging.

For you to combat early aging and to have robust disease protection you will need a proper exercise program made up of mostly strength training exercise. Whatever health issues are starting to show themselves your exercise program will go a long way to helping restore true health.

It will help you control your body weight, help you sleep better, reduce anxiety and stress, uplift your mood, improve mental functioning, strengthen your entire body and its systems and make you look and feel years (maybe decades) younger.

Think of your strengthening exercise program like the center pole in a tent. If you put it up correctly it will be strong and hold up your tent in stormy conditions. If you neglect to make sure it is strong it will collapse at the first sign of bad weather. The strength of your body is your own center pole holding up your health and ultimately your life.

The only thing you need to remember is not to make the mistake that low intensity activities like walking or gardening is going to keep you strong. These things are just part of living an active lifestyle and can never replace a proper strength training exercise program and the fantastic benefits it will provide you.

If you are not already doing this type of exercise take action and get one started. Just 2-3 sessions each week will provide you with the number one fitness medicine that you need to take to have a higher quality of life and greater disease protection. These are the very things we need to enhance the most precious thing we own - our own life.
