Useful information to become a great parent

By: darren ackers

In the mornings having the relentless battle of waking your child, getting them out of bed, ensuring they have breakfast, brushing their teeth, putting their school uniform and so on. This is can be even more difficult if you are getting ready for work and you're conscientious about being late for work. My wife and I are fortunate in that respect, we run our own businesses from home, in the morning we join and work as a team. However saying that, until our daughter was 2 we had to use a London Nanny Agency to source us a Nanny. We have 2 kids, I take care of my son and wife takes care of our daughter. Our kids are now 4 and 6, over the years we have both been taught a great deal about parenting, we have watched many Super Nanny episodes and have found what works for us through trial and error. We hope this article contains some helpful advice, which has worked for us.

Quality time - This is probably the most over looked aspect of parenting. Just spending 30-60 minutes per day with your son on a one to one basis can really connect the 2 of you together. This time could be spent playing a game, bathing your child, reading bedtime stories or just talking about their day.

Conflict - Your child may be trying to test you by losing their temper or speaking to you discourteously. If this happens, do not get drawn in and create an argument. Using a calm, controlled voice tell your child you will be in the next room when they want to speak to you in a respectful way. Take yourself out and move into another room, let the situation calm down.

Let them help you - Let them feel important and give your child some power. When your preparing a family unit meal, let them lay the table, give your child a choice of drink for their dinner. What ever it may be, get your child involved and make your child feel important.

Sit together at meal times - Most of us are busy people, working all day and then looking after our children after a hard days work. When ever possible try to have dinner as a family, all of you sit together and turn the TV off. This is a great time to find out about your son’s days, all the good and bad experiences and what they learnt today.

I hope you have enjoyed this brief article and find these tips advantageous in your journey to successful parenting.
