The inherit properties of sheepskin is superb terrific. Just a single layer, where the leather skin is outside and the fleece against your skin, will keep you feet warm in winter and cool in summer. They can be worn without socks whereas synthetics will cause your feet to perspire and develop odor quickly. Uggs natural fleece allow for air to circulate between the fibers and wicks off the perspiration from your skin. Odor doesn't get the chance to incubate and develop and is the ideal lining for a shoe, slipper or boot. Use commercial water and stain repellents especially during periods of rainy weather. Just spray thoroughly without saturating the leather and be sure to get the seams. When you finish, let the boots dry for 24 hours. Read the manufacturer's directions carefully. Apply down-wind and not near a flame. Many of these repellent's are extremely flammable and are not the healthiest of aerosols to breathe in. Sporadically you have to wash you Uggs and if you don't mind a little fading, use a washing machine. Very cold water helps reduce fading. Use Woolite, not soap. Throw in some tea shirts as scrubbers and to keep them from knocking around. Use the light-duty cycle for 10 or 15 minutes. At the end of the cycle, pull out the boots, slippers or shoes. You can hand scrub with a soft brush using a little Woolite or use an old toothbrush or nail brush where there is any encrusted dirt or scuffs that needs that little bit extra scrubbing. Then you can return to the washer and rinse and spin dry. If you have Ugg boots and you pulled them out, put soda bottles into the boot to keep it upright. You'll want to put them in a warm place. If you see them puckering pull and push shaping the sheepskin in order to keep the look perfect. In order to prevent water lines, ensure that the boot drys equally. After the boot is dry you can spruce up the pile with a soft brush. Remember to use and re-apply the waterproofing repellent. Woolite and cold water will keep your boots clean and minimize fading. Wearing prolonged use will stretch sheepskin. When you get a new pair you want them to fit snug and not too tight. To deodorize the boot, use equal amounts of baking soda and corn flour and sprinkle them inside the boot. Shake the dust around especially around the bottom. Let this concoction stay overnight and shake out the excess the next morning and you're good to go.
