Twitter Tips For Beginners

2. Your Picture: Far too many businesses try to get cute with the avatar. You should just have a simple picture of yourself. A simple head shot is fine. There's no need for studio type quality, just a simple photograph is OK. Here again, the trust factor is vital for success.

3. Automatic direct messages are of your tweets should NOT be directed at offers which sell something.

4. Failure to respond: A big mistake newbies make with Twitter is failing to respond to replies or direct messages in a timely fashion. It is vital when people reply to you or sends you a DM that you respond as soon as possible. I usually check twitter times a day and respond to folks who are tweeting with me.

5. Inconsistency: This is huge. Too many beginning marketers use Twitter only occasionally here and there... but not enough. If you're not going to be consistent with your tweeting and only use it 2 or 3 times per week, you should not waste your time. In order for Twitter to work forin your marketing, you must be consistent with it and tweet on a regular basis. No, you don't need to tweet all day long...or even close to that...but you can't be hit and miss for days on end either.
