Twin Beds For Kids - How To Choose Wisely Twin Beds For Kids - How To Choose Wisely

By: Steve Robertson

Twin beds for kids comes in all sizes, shapes and materiel. Choosing the right twin bed for your child may not be so easy, due to the fact that they are so many different options available, with so many choices online, this can quickly become confusing and frustration.

Before you set out on your quest it is a good idea that you at least have a few things in mind and some basic ground rules.

What is the size of your child's room? And will it just be for one child or more? If you have two children that will be sharing the same room then you will need to consider the space available to put two twin beds in that one single room. If this is the case or your child is planning on having sleepovers, then you might want to consider a bunk bed instead, or a twin trundle bed, or a daybed with trundle. All of these beds will give you more sleeping space without taking up any more room space.

SO careful measurements should be taken of the room and the space you intend to put the bed. Most twin bed measurements are 39” x 75” so you should at least have that much space.

Are you going with a traditional wooden theme or the more contemporary metal look. You should try as much as possible to include your child in the buying process. This will cause “buyer's remorse” later on and you child will have a vested interest in their new bed.

Theme beds like the princess bed for girls or the car beds for boys are cute and adorable. Whatever their hero is at the time they may want a bed to reflect this. Just be cautions and remember that they are changing, growing and they are going through phases, so whatever is in today might not be in tomorrow and you could end up changing your kid's bedding in a few months.

I recommend buying a more generic style and if they want characters you can use the bedding, such as the comforter or the sheets or the blankets to reflect their favorite character.

Most twin beds for kids do not come with it's own mattress and thi will have to be purchased separately. Some distributors online will offer both but the price will often be quoted separately. It is a good idea to confirm this before you buy and to make sure that you at least get shipping free! If it does not say so then it never hurt to ask.

The design or style might depend on if your child is a girl or boy, or you might want to keep it generic. Remember I mentioned sleepovers? You might want to consider a twin bed with a pullout trundle. These beds are great because you can store the trundle underneath the regularly used twin bed, when not in use.

Then there is the theme beds, like the car beds or the princess beds or the many different cartoon or Disney character beds. If your child is into a specif character then you can consider these twin beds, but just remember that they will change there favorite hero from one age to another, so you might have to get rid of the old hero and in with the new.
