Travel to Morocco in Winter

In cold and damp winters, it is a good idea to make a trip to some warmer places. Although a winter trip cannot be a long one, on account of festivities back at home, but it is definitely refreshing from the wane and watery winter sunless light. As for a winter destination, Morocco makes a great one to travel. Located in the north of Africa, it sees a sunny and warm climate through out the year. There are plenty of things to do and see in Morocco.

Whether you are a lover of the beaches, or prefer to hike and trek in the mountains. You will not repent for having travel to Morocco. Morocco has it all. You can go for water rafting, hiking, shopping, touring and many more. Here are a few sites that are must sees if you are planning to travel to Morocco.

The cities of Morocco that are full of tourist attractions have a charm of their own. Most of the cities have beautiful mosques, medinas, and souks. Casablanca, a city of Morocco, which has been immortalized by a movie of the same name, is referred as the 'Miami of Morocco'. It is modern city with all amenities. After Casablanca, the next important city is Fez. Fez is the oldest city of the country that houses buildings that dates back to 700 AD. It is a labyrinth of tiny streets that make passage for donkeys and mules. It is the country's spiritual and cultural hub. After Fez, there is Marrakech. It has some significant historic sites, beautiful gardens and a music square. It is also famous for its exotic food and night life. Tangier was once a very active city that had fallen out of popularity. But lately it is catching up again. It will be hosting the 2012 International Exposition. It also conducts the Jazz festival in late May.

There are a lot of scopes for activities for tourists who travel to Morocco. If you are a hiking enthusiast, then a trip to the Atlas Mountains will be ideal. You can hike on its slopes to see some hamlets and enjoy the wilderness on its slopes. If walking is not your cup of tea then you can still enjoy by riding on the horseback. You can even visit the nomadic Berber tribes whose way of life has not changed in centuries. In winter you can also ski on the snowy slopes.

If you are keen to see a desert, then you can make a tour of the Sahara desert on a camel’s back. You can experience the life of the Berber tribes by living like them in the tents on the desert under a night sky. The Draa Valley at the edge of the desert offers scope of activities like hiking and camel climbing etc. Commuting by train to various ends of the country is very convenient. Traveling between Marrakesh to Andalucía can enable you to see the Spanish cities of Cordoba and Madrid that are heavily influenced by the Moors. You can also enjoy mountain biking and fly-drive tours on you travel to Morocco.
