Trade Show Exhibits - Show The World What Your Trade Is

By: Benny Wilkinson

A trade show can be public or trade only; that is it can be open to public or can be restricted the use of members of the trade as well as that of the press. A big trade show normally attracts companies from around the globe. Now many on line directories have been established to help companies, marketers and the organizers identify the appropriate events.

If you have to set up your own booth or stall at one of the local, national or international trade shows, do not be daunted - aid is near you. A number of companies exist whose motto is to grant professional help to such people who have to participate in a trade show but do not know the basics about it.

Sift through all your marketing experiences and try and remember one point when you shopped adventurously. That is to say, you did not go to any of your regular shops, but instead decided to window shop. And in the course of it, you arrived at one shop that possessed just the right kind of ambience.

Your trade show exhibits can be viewed as the window of a shop. Customers are going to enter only if they like what they see from outside and they can only spare three seconds for you. If you cannot draw their attentions within that three second, they will float away. Also, remember selling as well as gaining a valuable lead is all-important. However, leaving a lasting impression on the mind the visitors is also very important.

Trade show exhibits are important part of your marketing strategy. However, a good one is expensive too. It will be foolish on your part to invest $50,000 or more on trade show displays on your very first show. It is true that the display company is going to guide you to their best of ability. In spite of that, inexperienced that you are, you may choose the wrong displays. Again, what you need today, you may not need to morrow. What will you then do with that expensive trade show exhibits that you have bought?

The answer lies in trade show display rentals. Most of the big companies that sell trade show exhibits, give them on rents too. Rates vary according to the size of your booths as well as the designs of the displays.
1. A 10 foot pop up display is worth $550.
2. If one chooses an 8-foot pop up display, one would have to pay $400.
3. 6-ft tabletop pop up display will cost you around $350.

A few companies have a policy to charge on per diem basis:
1. 6' to 8' table top unit will cost $75 per day
2. For an 8' to 10' freestanding display unit you will pay $75 per day
3. Full charges have to be paid beforehand.

The above mentioned rates are mere approximations. For the exact values, one should directly contact the rental companies. It is better to do a market survey before taking a decision - collect price quotations from several manufacturing companies and compare them.

One type of trade show exhibit easily available on rent is the panel and frame system. The panel system is available in many designs. It is easy to envisage that bigger the size of the booth or stall, greater would be the number of panels needed. A popular model is fold-able panels with hinges and a strong, flexible frame - this system looks very sophisticated and attractive.

While discussing trade fairs and displays, most people overlook the role of the sales personnel involved. These are the hard workers who spend most of the day standing. This surely tires them quickly and may have a detrimental effect on their efficiency. Their smiles at the end of the day are anything but genuine - that is, if the organizers have not provided them with anti-fatigue, high density flooring to stand on.

A 10'x10' interlocking high-density floor mat will cost you $200 per show. Of course, this is something you would better buy rather than rent from trade show display rentals. You can buy such a carpet for $485. A comfort plus carpet will cost you only $535. You will have to attend only three trade shows to make a profit out of it.

If attending trade shows is something you do very often, it is advisable that you buy some of the items likely to be needed always - it is a better option than paying rent for them each time. But in case you are disinclined or cannot personally manage the setting up of your booth, then it is better you go for the turnkey projects. Do not purchase anything in that case.
