Think About This When You're Away From Home

By: Toshikoe Polke

It's predicted by travel agencies that this year is going to be an additional record-breaking year for travel both in the states and overseas. The following tips should help your trip be more pleasurable and relaxing if you are one of the many taking a trip this year.

It is a good plan to bring two pieces of luggage, one small, another larger in size. Fill the smaller bad with overnight items you will need, such as pajamas and a robe, thin slippers, a toothbrush and toothpaste, and makeup. Once you've spent an exhausting day seeing attractions, you won't want to scramble through the large suitcase searching for these belongings. The large bag should be used only for clothing.

Economy of space is the real secret to packing efficiently. Following this idea, only bring along cosmetic items in small, travel sizes, such as toothpaste, shampoo, bath powders and cold cream. When it comes to a toothpaste, choose one that will combine brightening your teeth and freshening your breath.

Be sure you remember to bring a travel alarm clock. There's no guarantee that the concierge will remember your wake-up call to get you to your early morning bus on time. Don't carry a lot of money around with you. Obviously, you should carry a small amount, but don't bring more than you'll need in a given day. Keep your spending cash safe with traveler's checks. When you need more cash you can easily exchange a traveler's check for more cash. A credit card is also a necessity on any trip. Bring one card which is recognized internationally, and don't bother with any others.

If you follow this safety advice you will be far less likely to be a target. Make sure you don't allow your purse to dangle from a strap over one shoulder. Carry bags tightly pressed to your body, with the strap all the way across it, or tucked away beneath an arm and do not keep your wallet in your back pocket.

It's also advisable to put elastic bands around your wallet. This will keep your wallet from being easily taken out of your pocket without you being aware of it. Leave all valuable or sentimental items at home. Make sure to have a carry on bag in addition to your main suitcase with a change of clothing and daily essentials.

It is possible to pick up a small length of clothesline and miniature clothespins at some locations for people who travel frequently. These supplies might come in very handy for hanging up various things you want to rinse out each night.

Bring along some mailing labels printed with your home address. When sending packages home through the mail, it will make the process much more efficient. Some shops will even mail items for you, so it's a good idea to keep the labels on hand while shopping. Print out a set of address labels with all of your contacts' names; it will make sending postcards a breeze.

Store all your sales receipts in your handbag in an envelope for that purpose. You'll be able to move through customs a lot faster this way. A must have on any trip is a collection of plastic zip bags in various sizes to carry lotions or makeup, even shoes or laundry.

Taking along your preferred brand of suntan lotion since you might not be able to find it at your final destination. To make sure there will be no breakage, carry lotions, cold cream, shampoo, and deodorant in plastic bottles or jars.

As far as your clothing goes, be sure to bring wrinkle resistant clothing so that it doesn't get ruined in the suitcase. You're on vacation - washing and ironing are chores that you don't want to be faced with. Remember that you don't have to try and do everything. It's exciting to take a trip, but you should also let yourself have some time to relax and shouldn't force yourself to be out doing something every single moment of your vacation.
