This is the latest in a series of fascinating reports based on some amount of online research I have spent some time on recently regarding the possibilities of alternative energy solutions. These articles can be found at my Water 4 Gas Blog As improbable as it may seem, Fred Flintstone was dead on as he “drove” his foot powered automobile!!! Yep, this is a major conclusion of my research! Flintsone’s only mistake is that as an a cartoon creation he was restricted in his capability to “think in abstracts” and conceive of the bigger picture! People are beginning to discover that a major natural resource for alternative energy is the energy produced in the routine activities that most everyone does so it is not a matter of slave labor camps! From doing nothing more than what we naturally do all the time anyway but by being somewhat more intelligent about itwith regards to capturing and recycling of energy we can supply power to large cities! Well it appears that ol’ Fred had more going on in his head than it appeared! Well, this is one place where my investigations led me. I also have written other pieces. My focused mission is to enlighten people about the wealth of alternative power source information at my Water 4 Gas that teaches people how to convert your gasoline powered car engine into partial combination or total water-based hydrogen burning system. But in the process of that I have discovered the genius of alternative energy that I wanted to share other fascinating information I have found with you also. Some approaches include the floor of a dance club that captures and regenerates electrical energy from the vibrations of the dancers on the dance floor to shoes that generate electricity by converting friction from taking a stroll into electricity. One shoe prototype can generate about six watts, which would be more than sufficient to keep you from having to recharge your cell phone battery. Besides Fred Flintstone, another icon of 1960s television was Maxwell Smart’s shoe phone on the Get Smart program. This is a new angle on a shoe phone! Like some of these projects, the health club experiment will not be able to light up a skyline or even provide sufficient electricity for the spa's own air conditioning. They have connected 13 machines at one of its facilities. When all of them are connected up, the energy generated amounts to about three hundred watts, approximately enough to power three 27-inch TV sets, five 60-watt light bulbs or several hundred video iPods. If the gym had all the machines being used and were connected ten hours a day for one full year, the spa could produce approximately $183 worth of electrical energy. At that rate of progress, it would take about 82 years to pay off the original $15,000 investment. Converting human activity into electricity has a long, strange history (no, not talking about Fred again lol). The first telephones, in the 1800s, were powered by turning a crank that generated an electrical signal to notify the operator when one wanted to make a call. Flashlights that operate by hand crank have been available for a long time. So have hand-crank portable radios. The primary point of distinction between those and these is that many of the new approaches focus on capturing electricity that is a byproduct of casual human activities, such as walking, dancing or exercising. Scientists call such devices "parasitic" generators. Many of the most futuristic projects center their attention on recycleing the energy of crowds. It’s as if someone was watching the Mardi Gras or Times Square on New Year’s Eve or a Bruce Springsteen concert and said…”man! If we could somehow… harness that energy!” Enviu, a Dutch environmental organization, is constructing a dance club in Rotterdam that will utilize a dance floor that harvests vibrations from those happy feet into electricity. One potential blueprint for the dacne floor integrates piezoelectric crystals, which generate a small electric current when compressed. But Enviu's 400 square foot floor is expected to cost $260,000 and will generate only enough current to power some lights integrated into the pattern of the floor. So this could be considered more of an attraction than a solution. Designers in London has been in the process of developing materials for flooring that could ultimately serve to harvest energy from hordes of commuters passing through busy subway tunnels. In one plan, each step on the floor would push liquid through a microturbine, generating electricity. Allow me to take a moment to focus some attention back towards my main activity in the midst of these happy musings about Fred Flinstone’s alternative energy solutions. WATER4GAS is providing information for a fee which people can use in their garage or wherever to build a small gizmo which infuses hydrogen into the gas/air mixture that their car or truck runs on. The process makes bite sized particles out of the particles that the system burns as fuel. Because of the smaller size the system gets to use much more of the fuel. With WATER4GAS you can minimumly expect to reduce your gas usage by 12%. In reality though many are obtaining thirty to fifty percent improvement or significantly more. Those particles must have been pretty darn huge in some engines before. But with W4G they are made consumable so you can reduce your gas usage. It also helps make emissions significantly cleaner. This information has been purchased by over 9000 individuals already and happy members number about 99%! So that's a start!
