Most people think that the position of Senior Advisor for Economic development in the city of Miami could be accomplished only by a man. But to the contrary, this position has been very much played out by a woman by the name of Lisa S. Mazique. With this position, she supervised Economic Initiatives Division Project Management team where she was responsible for the strategic marketing, implementation, oversight, and evaluation of core Economic Development program areas and initiatives that served the City of Miami well even the business trade with other countries and bringing together international buyers and sellers to generate new business such as Tax Abatement Brownfield Redevelopment Areas, Anti-poverty and Micro-lending, Economic Development Geographic Information System and the Minority Business Enterprise Center, Capital Formation and New Market Tax Credit Programs. She has assisted local businesses and entrepreneurs identify capital access program and operational support. These little offers that she makes are able to widen her market and chances of targeting other potential clients in the future. Evaluating import/export potential; counseled and provided small businesses marketing; served as municipal liaison to SBA, Beacon Council, Chambers of Commerce and World Trade Center. Also, she has served as Executive Director for the MEDF and provides executive support to the Chief Financial Officer in evaluating new investments and portfolio management. Oversees all operation, including developing partnerships to enhance community development, marshaling financial resources to support neighborhood revitalization and implementing strategies that increase investment in Low Income communities. Not only are these a great addition to her resume, but the fulfillment of being able to help these people is incomparable. From June 2006 to September of 2007, Lisa Mazique became the Director of Economic Development where she supervised the coordination of activities with other local agencies addressing anti-poverty, workforce and training issues. These stated issues are directly affecting her work so once these are attended, then surely everything else will fall into place. She promotes Miami as a viable option for location of business and industry by communicating with national and international businesses. Because most of the time, once the international market is lured in to establishing their businesses in a state, then the rest would be smooth flowing. She also represented the City at meetings, presentations, trade shows, via development of proposals ad promotional materials. All of which is necessary for her to fully accomplish her job and it just goes to show with the aforementioned information that she truly is worthy of the position.
