The Process In Battery Installation

By: Mike Justin

The process of installing a new battery to your car should not take very long. There is no need to call a professional service from an auto repair shop in order to have a successful battery installation. Let this page help you on how to manually replace a new car battery within a few minutes.

There is only a few simple steps you should follow when installing a new car battery. Needless to say, you have to be extra careful when installing a car battery. Be sure that your eye is protected before attempting to start the installation process. When you're done, you can then proceed by following the simple instructions in replacing the batteries.

The first thing that you should accomplish is to turn off the engine. Then proceed in removing first the protective cover, if your battery has one, and on to the battery itself. Disconnect the negative cable (black) first before the positive cable (red). Remember to always remove the negative cable first to avoid sparks. Only then can you proceed to removing the mounting bolts and bracket by using a tool called a socket wrench. You can use a lift strap to lift the heavy battery out of the mountings so as to protect you from harm.

Next, you place the new battery into a tray that holds it. Then you need to attach the red positive cable first, followed by the black negative cable. Then make sure that the battery is snug and tight on the mounting by attaching the brackets and bolts. Make sure that the positive and negative cables do not touch with each other.

Now for the final touch, which involves closing the hood. You also need to start the car, just to make sure that you have installed the battery properly. And as the engine starts, you will definitely know you have done a good job and your car is ready to go on the road. And for the proper disposal of your old car battery, make sure that you bring it to a reliable battery recycling center.

What you have to bear in mind is that the battery that you should be purchasing should be something which you can rely and trust on. Never forget that the battery is basically the central core of your car's electrical system. The other pieces or parts which is connected to your battery cannot perform well if the battery you installed is not in tip top shape. So you must make sure that the battery you will be installing can withstand the rigors of everything you want it to, or else your efforts would be in vain.
