The phonetic alphabet exists in many variants but it is the NAT O standard military alphabet that is the most common type. Inspite of this even countries that use the NATO alphabet still show differences in their spelling.
The following style of the military alphabet is also referred to as International Civil Aviation Organization Code (ICAO).
