The Charm of Minnesota lies in its Natural Beauty

By: Laura Durso

Truth be told, most people would not consider making a state like Minnesota their home. Located on the northern edge of the continental United States, Minnesota can be a very cold place to spend a winter making it an unpopular choice for many people. This probably helps to explain why such a large state (geographically speaking) has a population that does not even rank it in the top twenty states.

While Minnesota may certainly not be the ideal place to settle down but it certainly is a state of choice to visit especially during the summer months because of its pristine landscape. With Lake Superior as the backdrop, Minnesota enjoys cool summer breeze making it one of the most desirable vacation spots in Northern United States.

But the people who come to visit the natural splendor that is Minnesota do not do so for theme parks or high class gambling venues. Persons choosing to spend their free time in Minnesota do so because they seek to escape the trials, stresses, and madness of the places that they live. For these people, the deep forests and pristine lakes offer a chance to escape back into a simpler time when a person had time to properly gather their thoughts.

If you love outdoors you will love Minnesota and truly enjoy the experience. You can go hiking, biking, boating, and choose from a host of other outdoor activities all across the great state.

One of the most popular attractions in Minnesota is The Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness. This area is rich in outdoor adventure opportunities. A thousand pristine lakes abound this area of wilderness. Some of these crystal clear lakes may even allow opportunities for water skiing and not just swimming, fishing and boating. To preserve the natural beauty of the lakes, motorized boats may not be allowed in certain lakes.

Canoe enthusiasts from the world over love to try their skills on the complex and challenging waterways in the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness. But for those not interested in taking a canoe trip, there are still plenty of campgrounds, resorts, and lodges in the area that make for perfect retreats from the madness of the rat race.

Minnesota is home to a wide range of wildlife which is also another big draw for visitors. It is completely possible to see moose, bears, wolves, deer, eagles, and even those crazy loons during your stay in Minnesota. If you do not happen to see what you are looking for in the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness, there are more isolated and remote regions where such wildlife flourishes.

However, if you are looking for ‘glitz and glamour’, then Minnesota is not the place for you. Its residents are true lovers of Nature and prefer to enjoy the splendor of the natural world. They have preserved the beauty of their state in its natural form. That is why we can visit this natural splendor and bring back memories that will last a lifetime.
