Thanks To The Great Nentendo...I Am A Gamer

By: Sharonsky Tribelsky

We are drawn into a forceful story. We rise to challenges and face death with courage. We succeed and we lose. We practice for hours and hours. We save our world and innumerable other worlds not in this astral system again and again. We are heroes, and we are villains. We are athletes, soldiers, Pokemon trainers, an Italian plumbing Duo, enigma solvers, musicians, and more than you can imagine. We are gamers.
My induction into the community of "gamers" began when I was a youngster. I had played video games off and on as a kid, but when you're a teen, it takes on a whole new world. I had never played any of my download snes games with any one else before, and the interest in them had waned after some time. But it was my soon to be best friend across the street that changed everything forever.
Gathering him at the society swimming pond throughout my first summer in Seattle, we began to develop a friendship that will last for existence to come up to. After a few weeks, I was invited to cross the street and join him in his video game center that was located in the back of his garage. And this is where I had my flash, my "experience" that changed me from regular teen to life gamer. Lazy summer nights with no educate, just relaxing with him and playing a whole bunch of used fabulous nintendo games. We would flee down there for hours on end, with the garage door open, and not a care in the world.
Of all of those used super nintendo games that we played over that first summer, I still to this day look back lovingly on the one that I would say started my true journey into becoming a gamer. It was called Ken Griffey Jr.'s Home Run Derby. If for example I was a baseball fan, tthan it would have been easy to understand the reason why this game was the catalyst. But the fact is, I had never been much more than a casual observer of the sport and preferred basketball mostly. But with this used super nintendo game, the competition that drives every solitary gamer to push through and keep marching on was awakened.
And so, at the present when I visit my neighboring video game store that sells the old used super nintendo games, i allways give a big smile brain takes a trip back to that hard to believe summer. Even now, with cutting border graphics and game consoles that look like something out of space, there is something about those download snes games that holds a special place in my heart. I picture they always will for one straightforward reason. I am a gamer.
