By: Isaac Menely

When you work from home, most times you are really working over time pulling "triple shifts". Working on your enterprise when you can while taking care of and doing all of the other things in life that are just simply required. From laundry, to yard work, to cooking dinner. Not to mention all the responsibilities or friends and family calling you expecting you to be available at whatever time for a heavenly day of fun.

Some of the most challenging things about managing a home based business is keeping your work separated from your private and social life. Here are several proven ways to help you keep your own life rolling smoothly and your business on track.

Begin by creating a work schedule that you think you can work with and stick with it. Every now and then it may feel appealing to get personal calls or do other things through your business hours. Doing this gives the incorrect notion and actually shows that you are untrustworthy -- not trustworthy. Family and friends may inadvertently take that for granted and presume you will "be there at all times" for any minor thing that comes up. We all know family comes first. But seek to stay true to your set business plan and remain from being tempted to converse with friends or run errands during business hours.

Working from your abode can be tricky at times, your friends might believe that it’s a good time to shoot the breeze or go out to see a movie because you are around. Put in plain words to your friends that this is your business work plan and work hours are for your business. Do your best to keep your personal calls for after-hours. You'll observe that your friends will in reality look up to you more for taking your business seriously

Setting up a work to-do list isn't a unpleasant thing. You can keep the identical hours as everyone else or adapt them to fit your life style. The primary benefit of working for yourself is making your specific hours around your life to fit your most constructive times. Some folks have an early bird schedule, while other individuals have a late night schedule, early bird or night owl. Plan your work time around when you feel the most creative. You'll find you get a lot more finished while you're in step with your body's individual inherent rhythms. Find the hours that work for you and you'll get things done faster and easier.

If getting company or private calls in the wrong times of the day becomes a drawback. Most times it helps to have a different phone line for your company calls, or at least voice mail to take the incoming calls. This keeps your business appeared as professional and makes it easier to know when it’s a client calling. It’s an extra bonus if your family shares the same private phone line. A cell phone now days, goes a long ways.

As soon as you can, try to make a separate space for your "home office work place" area from the rest of your home. Sometimes we don't have the bonus of a separate area or room. Do what you can to construct even a part of your home to feel like your office area, just having a TV tray to place your laptop on and a family picture. Make your best efforts, to let your family recognize that this is where you will be while you are working, being productive and it should act as a visual indication later on and you shouldn't be disturbed as much.

Perform professionally while you work. Some individuals find they like dressing professionally while they work is beneficial, other individuals find dressing casually at home works for them. Each are ok. But dressing professionally or in casual business wear during business hours helps to remind you that you are taking your business professionally and sincerely. This makes you more of a professional, one that modestly works from home. Operate professionally while you work and respond to calls. You may mull over investing in the appropriate office gear to fit your space that you would require to do your job right. A laptop, business line, or a work station spot in your home so that you can get down to business and get the best out of your productivity.

Remember to stick with your strategy and your work schedule, fine-tune it as needed so it works for you. There's a delightful chance you'll uncover a rhythm or habit that makes you feel impressive about being valuable and active in creating your business.
