Steps of Positive Thinking

By: Jordan Shannon

The subject of positive thinking has become absolutely popular and you would be hard pressed to find someone that hasn't researched at least something on the matter. Just about every literate individual knows about the benefits of positive thinking. But how many of us are utilizing the positive thinking concept in our day to day life regularly?

It is not uncommon to grab a book on positive thinking, flip through it, get determined for a little while, and the go right back to our normal style of thinking. Why don't we take positive thinking as our way of being? Is this way of thinking very not easy to accept, or is it that our environment and individuals around us are so negative that it is practically hopeless for an individual to become positive and remain so?

Really if you reflect about it, people really do not stick with this positive-thinking thing. Why? Mainly Because of two reasons.

They fail to understand the essence of the inner workings of positive thinking and apply it in a wrong way.

We want quick results and when we do not see any clear benefit with in a period of two to three days they loose attentiveness. And continuously their usual thought pattern comes back.

80% of the thoughts of a normal person are negative. When we start thinking positively we just adjust to a new stream of thought --which is positive-- with all our negative thoughts. “I’ll get the raise easily”. This is a conscious thought stream. But in the evening returning home from work we keep thinking unpositivly and how hard it is going to be. This negative thought comes to our brain automatically (unconsciously). We process this thought with lots of negative emotion. And all these happen without our being conscious of what we are doing.

To free the full potential of positive thinking you have to arrest and kill negative thought spikes. You can do it! It is not difficult and becomes simpler with practice.

Now the inquiry remains how we can get quick results from our positive thinking efforts. To be fair their is no fast way to get results overnight. When used properly positive thinking has the power to do wonders in your life. The best thing to do is get started. After that stay focused and the results will come.
