Sonic the Fighters was developed by Sega-AM2 and published by Sega. The producer of the game is Yu Suzuki, Hiroshi Kataoka is the directory of the game. Masahiro Sugiva is the primary character designer for Sonic the Fighters. There are two composers involved in the game production include Maki Morrow and Takenobu Mitsuyoshi. Sonic the Fighters is compatible with several platforms including Arcade, GameCube and PlayStation 2. It was officially released in Japan on June 1996. In North America, it was released on the July 1996. Sonic the Fighters was publicized in Europe in August 1996. It allows single and multiplayer game mode. Players can control the movement of the characters in Sonic the Fighters by using joystick. The development of the game begins from an employee who works in AM2 in the Sega company. One day, the employee happen to add Sonic in the Fighting Vipers game. When Yu Suzuki saw this, he got an idea to create Sonic the Fighters. He recommend the idea to Hiroshi Kataoka. Kataoka feel that the idea is inappropriate. Kataoka feels that the Sonic characters should not be fighting with each other. He was hesitant to approve the idea because he feels that Yuji Naka will not like it. Despite that, Yuji Naka likes the idea and approved it. Naka was happy to see the release of Sonic the Fighters game. Sonic Fighters is the first game that is presented in 3D graphics. The developers who are involved in the production of Sonic Fighters are not sure about the outcome in the market. When it is released, Deith Leisure distribute the game to the customers in the United Kingdom. There are a number of playable characters in Sonic Fighters. The characters will become unlocked as you complete the stages. In Giant Wing stage, Sonic the Hedgehog will be able to convert himself into a Super Sonic. Tails become unlocked in Canyon Cruise. Knuckles will appear in the South Islands. Once you reach the Flying Carpet stage, you will be able to partner up with Amy Rose. Espio tha Chameleon is available as a playable character in the Mushroom Hill. You should see Bean around in the Dynamite Plant. Sonic Fighters also feature Bark, the Polar Bear. Bark make his appearance in Aurora Icefield. When two similar characters are attacking each other, the second player is shown in a grayscale color. If you manage to beat the 8 bosses that occur throughout the stages, you will proceed to an advanced level where you will meet with Metal Sonic and Robotnik. If you want to win the game, you must beat the other players. To beat the players, you must deplete their health tank until it becomes zero. You must deplete the health tank within a specified period of time. If you don't, the player that has the most energy will win the game. If you are playing as single player, you will have to fight in 10 dual battle. If you successfully passed the 10 dual battles, you will reach the final stage.
