In sonar, there are various ways to do certain things. Hint, there is more than one way to skin a cat. I'll be going over several procedures on how to freeze audio tracks and soft synths in Sonar 8.5 to Sonar 6. Freezing allows you to forever bounce your track that includes soft synths and effects. This is a marvelous device to scrimp your CPU, as it actually freezes your audio tracks and synths in time. Any clip edits done to a frozen track, including, cutting, copying, pasting, slip editing, envelopes and fades will be abandoned if you unfreeze the track. So you may want to unfreeze your track when doing any of these edits. This is a perfect CPU saving tool. If you find your CPU getting a bit high and you don't want to raise your latency, just start freezing your bigger tracks. To freeze an Audio Track and Soft Synth You click the tracks freeze button in the track itself (track view only). Or you can right click on the track and select Freeze, or you can select the track, click the track menu and select freeze, then freeze track. That's 3 ways to do the exact same thing. To Unfreeze an Audio Track and Soft Synth You click the tracks freeze button, in the track itself or right click on the track and select Freeze / Unfreeze or you can select the track and click the track menu and chose Freeze / Unfreeze See, that wasnt so hard. Now you can go onto illumination on other things in sonar. Just take it one step at a time and before you know it, you will have mastered it.
