Some tips for writing a great resume

By: ScottX

In the current recession getting a job can be really tough. You need as many advantages as you can when it comes to finding a great job. One of the things you can do is make sure you have a solid resume. Having a well written resume could mean the difference between being hired or someone just throwing your resume aside with all the others. You need to make your resume stand out from the rest. In this article I will give some hints to make your resume a lot better and increase your chances of landing that job you've always wanted.

The first thing your going to want to make sure you do on your resume is make sure you backup your experience and strengths. If you were a supervisor at your last job and did a great job. Make sure you mention your leadership abilities. If you solved a lot of issues at your last job make sure you mention your problem solving skills on your resume and maybe give an example of a problem you may have dealt with. Putting your experience and strengths at the forefront of your resume is one way to have a great resume.

Another thing you can do to help in your resume writing endeavor is use bullet points instead of paragraphs for descriptions. Most human resources departments don't have the time to read over paragraph after paragraph of information on a resume. If your information is after bullets it'll be quicker to read and the information will more likely to be used to someone that could potentially hire you. You have to streamline your resume for success and using bullets is one easy way of doing that.

One other thing you can do to increase your chances of resume success is to avoid negativity. I can't stress this one enough. If you got fired from your last job you don't need to put the reason why on your resume. However, if you get an interview and this gets brought up be prepared to be truthful and put a positive spin on the reason if you can. This will hopefully show your integrity and increase your chances of getting the job.

A final thing you can do to improve your resume is have someone else you know read it. Sometimes when other people read your resume they may find spelling mistakes, grammar mistakes or just other things you may not have seen. This is why it's always a good idea to have at least one other person read over your resume and tell you what they think of it. If you want an even better resume have 2 people read over it. You need all the help you can get when it comes to writing a good resume.

In closing, the economy isn't very healthy right now and finding a job is hard enough as it is. Writing a good resume at this point isn't just important. It's absolutely crucial. It's better to take your time and get it right then rush a quick resume out the door. So use these tips and any other resources you may have and write a great resume. Good luck with your job hunt.
