Social Media For The New Generation

The world is round--WORD OF MOUTH MOVES TO THE INTERNET! We all know that personal recommendation is the most effective way to gain new business. It used to be that you probably did business with folks you knew. People lived in little towns and went to the local greengrocer or restaurant as we knew them and our neighbors advised we go to them. If one of these sellers did something dishonorable, we'd find out from a friend or neighbor. I remember as a girl we had a garments line in our backyard. My mother and her next door neighbor would talk about local goings on as they hang their laundry to dry. This is really the origin of personal recommendation selling. So what does this have to do with you and your business? First off, you must know a referral program is your best weapon in a down economy. SO the question is, how do you create more word of mouth recommendations? Well, I'll tell you I had a duh moment yesterday. A duh moment you might ask? Well a duh moment for people that have no idea is a moment when you look at something a go duh it is so clear ( but of course, not always as easy to see before, but that is's another story for another day. ) SO, here's my duh moment. Social media has taken personal recommendation to the Internet. The world is smaller. My neighbor is telling me through twitter that something is or isn't good. This neighbor isn't next door, but in the Ukraine. Doesn't signify. The effect is identical. It has been discovered that folks are searching Twitter for at least date information on things and the communities made from Facebook are helping people in their day by day lives. For instance, I had an issue with one of my internet sites and sent out a message through Facebook and Twitter, and within fifteen minutes, had several helpful ideas. Why is word of mouth so important? It's just that somebody commending you vs looking at an advert carries more weight. How can you use this for your own marketing? Easy, invite your associates to join you on a Facebook business or fan page. Keep them abreast of new things that are occuring in your business and ask them to share their successes on your page. You'll see, it will make a difference to your referrals as well as give you a few more successes to promote! This can be a bit time consuming, but people your potential new clients are on Facebook. Take a look at these stats : More than 2 hundred million active users More than one hundred million users log on to Facebook once or more each day More than two-thirds of Facebook users are outside of school the swiftest growing demographic is those 35 years old and older Average user has 120 chums on the site More than four bln minutes are spent on Facebook each day ( worldwide ) More than 30 million users update their statuses at least one time every day More than 6,000,000 users become fans of Pages each day So, my advice. Gain some more recommendation by friends and get involved in social media. Please make sure I know if I will be of help.
