Skin Moles Removal - Know Your Options

By: Gen Wright

I get asked the question all the time "What is the best procedure for skin mole removal". Well, there is no single "best" procedure due to the fact that every person is different and may contain different types of moles. There are several techniques that can be used for skin mole removal including surgery, electrosurgery, lasers, freezing and with herbal products and creams. (I would choose the last option. Cheaper, effective and less painful)

Technique #1 - Surgery

Depending on the type of mole, surgery may be necessary. The deciding factor here will be if the mole is benign or malignant. A normal mole (benign) is symmetrical and the borders are distinct and not scalloped or notched. Color is also another important factor.
If the mole is malignant, it must be surgically remove. However, most moles are benign and will not require this procedure. Many would advise against surgery for a benign mole removal procedure do to the pain involved as well as the price. The average cost to have a mole surgically removed will be $150-$200. There are much better alternatives available.

Technique #2 - Laser Surgery

Another form of mole removal is with laser surgery. While scaring is not usually an issue with this technique, it is important to know that this is not a method for treating deep moles. Laser mole removal is best for moles that are flat and brown or black in color. This method of removal may require several treatments (1-3) before the mole is gone. With this procedure, a physician or dermatologist will apply a local anesthetic and use a laser to remove the mole tissue. Again, this procedure is not appropriate for very large moles or moles that protrude above the skin. Price can range from $50-$100 per treatment per mole. This can become a very expensive form of mole removal.

Technique #3 - Freezing

One more procedure involves using liquid nitrogen to "freeze" the mole dead and then it falls off. This is much like the process of removing warts which have become too large. This method is virtually painless. The mole is sprayed with a device for about 30 seconds. After several days, the mole will fall off. This method is becoming more popular but is also very pricey. Do to this, may people use herbal products for all natural skin moles removal.

Technique #4 - Herbal Products

This is by far my favorite method for skin mole removal. There are many home remedies as well as over the counter creams. Scars are rare with this method but they can happen. Herbal products are preferred by many because of their effectiveness and the lack of pain involved. Another bonus of this procedure is the fact that it can be preformed from home. One home remedy is the combination of castor oil and backing soda. Removal time is approximately 3-7 days. This method is probably the most effective as well as the cheapest.

I'm not discounting the use of over the counter creams because they are also very effective. From our studies, certain over the counter creams will remove your skin moles in as little as two weeks. Cost ranges from $49.95-$89.95.

From our studies, using herbal products and creams is the top choice for removing unwanted skin moles.
