Shark Attack: Caught on Video

By: David Urmann

Realistic videos of sharks attacking humans are even more shocking than videos you witness on the Discovery Channel or National Geographic Channel. One should always remember that brutal sharks could be unmerciful killers when they sense threat.

Do you follow shark videos and other footages on TV? Do shark documentaries fascinate you? If you’re a fan of the Discovery Channel or the National Geographic, chances are, you have seen a show or two about this great creature from the sea. If so, there is no doubt you agree that sharks are dangerous animals.

Sharks are fish with cartilage-like skeletons, sharp and pointy teeth, and denticles cover that protect them from injury. Although notorious for being ferocious predators, not all sharks are dangerous to humans. Some hammerhead sharks do not actively seek out human prey but would attack when provoked. The incredible Great White Shark, measuring 12 feet long and on average weighing about 3000 pounds, has attacked humans more than any other shark types.

Sharks charm adults and children alike. They have been around longer than dinosaurs and evolved little in the last 150 million years. They have been expert hunters long before humans came into existence. Their senses are highly developed. Half of the brain powers a keen sense of smell. Their teeth are replaceable. They have mirror-like eyes and a lateral line to feel vibrations. They know when a prey is nearby.

The most threatening sharks to humans are perhaps the Tiger Shark, Great White shark, Hammerhead shark, Bull shark, and the Mako shark. There are about 100 shark attacks recorded annually and about 10 percent of that result in human deaths.

Although most sharks are dangerous, scientists risk this, studying the creatures closely. Always bear in mind that though that these ferocious yet fascinating creatures of the sea could turn into deadly killers when sensing danger. Always extend the necessary precautions when dealing with sharks up close.

There are some shark attacks caught on camera. These videos are the most horrifying that you can possibly see in the National Geographic Channel and Discovery Channel. It captures the fierceness and unmerciful attacks of these beasts.

If you’d like to find real-life shark attacks caught on video, there are plenty of resources online for it. Running a search using all the major search engines – Google, Yahoo, MSN, Live – will yield hundreds, even thousands of hits. These videos could be found on amateur blogs or professional websites. Shark documentaries could also contain real-life footages of shark attacks. Proceed with caution though. These videos can be pretty violent or ghastly. These may be unedited footages that show gruesome images of people being attacked by these predators.
