Screen Protector Installation on the HTC Evo 3D

By: Jose Antonio

The all-new Evo by HTC delivers everything we loved about the last incarnation in a sleek lightweight shell with a host of upgraded hardware and features, including an innovative 4.3-inch QHD SLCD capacitive touch screen. That gorgeous screen allows HTC to deliver a stunning stereoscopic 3D experience without sacrificing 2D mode performance, something that most 3D smart phones cannot claim. HTC has ensured a wide range of accessories, and as you might expect, they have put great emphasis on screen protection. Finding the right screen protector to fit you tendencies should not be a challenge.

The most common type of screen protector is the standalone protector. This type of accessory is very versatile, and the user can simply pair them with acase of his choosing. Screen protectors are generally made of a thin plastic-like film, sometimes called "screen skins," or a slightly thicker but bendable plastic. Before you begin, wash your hands thoroughly using soap and warm water. The screen should also be cleaned with the LCD screen cleaner of your choice.

You will find that many screen guards are already precisely cut for your smart phone. Sometimes there is additional material, and in the case of universal protectors there may be a great deal of additional material. Use a box cutter to carefully cut the excess material and make sure that the protector matches the dimensions of your screen. You can use a cardboard type surface to protect the underlying surface. It often helps to use a ruler as a guide and in the case of the harder protectors, applying pressure to the ruler will help the material to cut more smoothly.

Once you have finished cutting it you should check the edges to make sure that it is smooth. If you find a jagged section of edge, cut or file this away. You can even use sandpaper to smooth out the edges. It is also important to clean the screen guard once again before you apply to it the screen. This time, no cleaning solution is necessary, just use a microfiber cloth so that we can remove any dust or fingerprints that got on their while we were preparing it.

Now, it is finally time to remove the protective film from the sticky side of the protector. Pull it away quickly and cleanly, and then press the sticky side of protector down onto the screen. Be firm and decisive, and do not be afraid to move the screen protector into proper position. Next, use the included squeegee device to remove the air bubbles between the protector and the screen. For best effect, start at the bottom, and then squeegee firmly as you work your way up the screen vertically. Take your time, and repeat this step as many times as is necessary to ensure that all air bubbles are gone.
