Save Big On Repair And Renovation With Concrete Stains And Concrete Sealers

By: Gen Wright

There is no doubt about it, concrete really is a very resilient and lasting material that ideally should not need repair or renovation for a long time to come. I say ideally, because sometimes flaws creep in to the building process and they shorten the life of the concrete surface. This happens most often to concrete floorings because they are secondary layers of concrete that are not structurally as important as the main superstructure of the building. So builders will often fail to give it the due importance it deserves and the problem start creeping up on the owner after only a few years.

Then there is also the daily wear and tear that any flooring will face. If you have heavy furniture, chairs with jagged metal legs or something similar, your flooring very is likely to be damaged. Sometimes, the flooring is not really responsible for the damage caused to it. It may be other problems like leaking concealed plumbing and other things that cause moisture to seep in to the concrete surface. Under these circumstances, concrete surfaces can really take a beating and develop cracks and dents.

These cracks and dents will widen with time and if you continue to ignore them they will go beyond the point of no return where you have to call in a contractor physically repair or remove the entire flooring and rebuild it from scratch. You know what that means - a lot of money and a lot of time lost. Plus you have to find a temporary place to stay and a warehouse to store all your furniture in. That means more money spent one something you could've avoided. You can actually save yourself all the pain and hardships by simply using a concrete stain and some concrete sealer on your concrete flooring.

Concrete stains, the modern quick dry variants especially, are extremely easy to use and apply and require little or no training in household construction. You can easily turn in to a personal project and have a lot of fun restoring your flooring to its former glory. Stains are chemicals that are especially designed to give your flooring the protection and look that it deserves. After you apply the stain, it will solidify on the surface and will then on act as a barrier between your concrete flooring and the outside world. So you no longer have to worry about liquid seepage, leaks, etc.

Concrete sealers are also as easy to use as concrete sealers. While you have to paint-on the stain, you have to use a spraying apparatus to apply the concrete sealers. Sealers do exactly what their name suggests - they seal up crack in the concrete to prevent them from causing any further damage. Cracks in concrete can be a real nuisance and with enough time, they might undermine the entire structure. So save on the repair bill and use a sealer to seal up newly forming cracks.
