Profit With Local Search Marketing Tactics

Local business owners must understand there's a shift in marketing trends taking place. Individuals in cities searching for goods and services in their cities are now far more likely to use online search instead of traditional advertising methods, such as the Yellow Pages and newspaper adds.

People are finding that doing a simple and quick search, in Google for example, is far more efficient for finding what they are looking for in their local cities. Not only is it quicker, there are far more options and information available when doing online searches.

Details, pictures, and videos can be associated with those online searches by local business owners. This makes the traditional and expensive Yellow Page ads less attractive. Yellow Page usage is going down every year. Newspapers are going out of business and their circulations are decreasing every year.

Local business owners who fail to recognize these facts will be left out in the cold as more and more of their potential customers and clients will be shifting their focus to online search. Online search marketing is not difficult to learn, and any business owner can easily get up to speed by performing a few simple tasks online in order to place their business in local search results in Google, Yahoo, and other search engines.

SEO is the lowest priced local marketing method. A lot of people have been asking me about the connection between local SEO and broad based SEO. Truthfully there is very little difference between the two. Internet marketers who are able to optimize web pages using SEO in order to attract traffic to large broad based search terms is also able to optimize local pages for local searches.

In fact it is often far easier to optimize for those small niche local searches than it is to optimize for broad based key words. Let me give you an example. Carpet cleaning would be quite difficult to optimize for and rank on the first page. There are enormous numbers of pages which have been optimized and are about carpet cleaning.

However, when you perform a local search, such as Dallas carpet cleaning, that turns the broad based keyword into a very niche keyword. There are fewer competitors optimizing for Dallas carpet cleaners than there are for the broad term carpet cleaners.

By optimizing for these niche keywords it becomes very easy to attract traffic to these local searches performed by local individuals in the cities in which they live in.

This is the premise used by local search marketers to attract traffic which is local and very targeted towards the businesses offering goods and services in that specific city.
