Preventing Animals from Visiting Rural Properties

By: Chris lt Turley

Any desert creature active at night time discovered in a residential area is usually there because of the availability of food stuff or the lack of water in their natural habitation. Eliminating chow from your yard will help put off wild animals from leaving their natural habitat. Here are a few ideas of how to keep wild animals from entering into one’s neighborhood.

Remove all pet food that is out in the open before night time.

Only use trash bins that have lids that are hard to be knocked over. Garbage bags aren’t a safe way to store trash.

Make sure to harvest your gardens on a regular basis. Clean up any fruit that falls from trees.

Make sure doggy doors or any animal doors secure at night when you can.

Strong wiring or netting may be an excellent method to secure any access points to a structure or your home. Anything left unsealed often is found by wildlife. Structures such as decks or patios are often used by wild animals seeking shelter from storms. Prevention measures can be used around the perimeter of the deck to help keep wild animals out. If you are not sure if you have an animal coming onto your residence, use flour to lie down around the suspected area. Check in the morning to see if there are any creature tracks.

Pests or insects may attract unwanted creature life that may destroy ones yard. Wild animals will burrow deep into one’s lawn to uncover pests and insects. Visit your neighborhood hardware store to see if they have pest controlling chemicals. Read the labels and be aware of neighborhood pets when deciding on the right chemical.

Creatures often use trees to climb onto the roofs of homes. The branches don’t have to be lingering close to the roof line. Vines are also another way wild animals can get onto a roof top.

Do not feed or provide water for wild animals intentionally. Wild animals may consider where they are being fed as being home.

Swimming pools are a source of water for thirsty wild animals. Appropriate fencing with some sort of a screen will help detour the wild animals.

If you do have a wild animal problem and need to relocate a lost or wandering wild animal then get a hold of your local game and fish department. It is likely that it is against the law for you to transfer them off of your premises.
