The chef lives in Tuscany and operates the cooking school. This entire arrangementbrings up the question: how genuine is this American restaurant? Even though there is a school in Italy, can the chain authenticate their claim that they provide real Italian food? Well this is where it all ties in. Evidently the house specialties created at the Institute are noted on Olive Gardens menus with an easily recognizable seal. Two items devised at the Institute that are currently offered at Olive Garden include Grilled Shrimp Caprese and the Smoked Mozarella Fonduta. So Olive Garden can declare that they operate a cooking school, but what’s also noteworthy is that these chefs and managers are not the only ones who can try out the institute. Members of the public can take part in a one-week overview. Every year a contest is held that people can enter and if they win they can attend the school. The winner is permited to stay seven days in Tuscany learning Italian methods of cooking. They learn about items like cooking oils, wines, cheeses, and how these items can complement your meal. The school is in operation only twelve weeks of the year and the remainder of the year it becomes a bed and breakfast where anyone may stay. In the off season the restaurant opens its doors to locals and traditional Tuscan foods are served to the public. There are also cooking courses offered in order to educate visitors on Tuscan cuisine.
