Obama And Biden's Energy And Environment Agenda

By: Jeffery Holter

Whatever people will say about the Obama administration, President Barack
Obama and Vice-President Joe Biden's overall agenda includes some important
goals and strategies for protecting our environment, reducing our dependence on
foreign oil, diminishing our contribution to climate change and helping average
Americans become more energy independent.

From their agenda website, Change.gov: "Our addiction to foreign oil doesn't just
undermine our national security and wreak havoc on our environment?it cripples
our economy and strains the budgets of working families all across America."
National security, economy, and the environment are all very important daily
aspects of American life.

So how do they plan to improve these essential everyday facets of our
existence? By focusing on job creation, technological advances in the vehicles
we drive, using renewable resources, and reducing harmful emissions, Obama
and Biden can see a brighter environmental and economical future for our
country. Here are a few other highlights:

?

By focusing on weatherizing one million homes each year, developing
clean coal technology, and guaranteeing that 10 percent of electricity in
American comes from renewable sources by 2012, and 25 percent by
2025, Obama and Biden aim to create millions of green jobs in America.
By attempting to eliminate excessive energy speculation and cutting
prices on oil by trading it from the strategic petroleum reserve, the
president hopes to bring short-term relief to Americans.
By implementing a national low carbon fuel standard, increasing
fuel economy standards on vehicles in America, promoting domestic
production of oil and natural gas, putting one million hybrid cars on the
road by 2015, and awarding $7,000 tax credits to people who purchase
advanced vehicles, the Obama administration thinks we can then do away
with imports from the Middle East and Venezuela within 10 years.
By enacting cap-and-trade programs and making the United States a
leader on the issue of climate change, Obama and Biden think we can
reduce greenhouse gas emissions 80 percent by 2050.

in the national effort to reduce the amount of harm humans are having on our
planet. With today's advanced technology, environmental service providers can
update, improve and repair air pollution control equipment like regenerative
thermal oxidizers and direct fired oxidizer, and also provide retrofit and rebuild
services. Implementing preventative care for direct fired oxidizers, regenerative
thermal oxidizers, and even used thermal oxidizers can save your company
considerable costs in the long run, and also help protect the environment.
