Military Boots Direct Unveils the Tactical Research TR636 CT Maintainer and TR336 CT Guardian Combat Boot Models

By: Vishal Wong

Tactical Research has just added to their footwear lineup with two new, state-of-the-art tactical boots for Fall 2010: the TR636 CT Maintainer and TR336 CT Guardian. Both models were desgined by the same design team that created the ever-popular 220 DES Desert Combat Boot and the 330 ST Flight Boot models by Belleville Boots, the parent company to Tactical Research. So far, these new boots are upholding the Tactical Research reputation for producing high-performance combat footwear in a lightweight package. In the past, Tactical Research has established a leading reputation through the release of their successful Kiowa and Paladin models which have received rave reviews from the law enforcement and military communities. After our review of these new models, we expect the new TR636 and TR336 to follow suit.

First off, the new TR636 and TR336 weigh in at a mere 17 ounces per boot for a size 9. This is extremely light mentioning that some other combat boots weigh in at upwards of 10 ounces over this weight per boot . This featherweight quality makes for a military boot that is ideal for marching, running, jumping, and almost any type of extended physical activity and use. They achieve this by using light, yet durable smooth leather and 100% Cordura nylon upper and a compact, triple density EVA midsole.

The TR636 and TR336 series also receives high ratings in the comfort area. Several comfort features have been built into these boot models such as Tactical Research's patented TR-1 Load Bearing Orthotic Sole and a double-density EVA Midsole for all-day comfort and cushioning. Adequate cooling and moisture dispersion is acheived through side perforations in the instep area for absolute maximum air flow. These boots were designed for hot weather and lightness so they are not ideal for cold, wet weather use. For maximum cushioning, the TR636 and TR336 both employ a double-density EVA footbed with additional shock padding in the heel and forefoot areas. They feel more like running shoes with a soft heel to toe impact when jumping or running. Another comfort characteristic worth mentioning is the contoured foot last, where the sole of your foot contacts and shapes with the top of the midsole. Tactical Research engineers were generous enough to design a contoured foot last that hugs the foot's contours which prevents your foot from slipping, thereby reducing rubbing and blisters. These comfort features should definitely reduce fatigue and enhance performance on the battlefield.

Foot protection is obtained through a lightweight composite toe cap which makes these boots ideal for hazardous working environments where toe safety is a priority. Through the use of lightweight materials, the TR636 and TR336 are still excellent boots for personnel required to do extensive marching, running, jumping, climbing, and other physical activities.

Other qualities worth mentioning are the composite construction of thes boots and open-tread pattern. No metal parts exist in either boot models. Even the lace guides are made of high impact nylon material which makes this boot safe for electrical hazard environments. The open tread pattern of the non-marking rubber outsole prevents debris from being trapped in the lugs.

Overall, the Tactical Research TR636 and TR336 models have received a wave of excellent reviews from testers in the field. Comfort during lengthened duty wear and minimal break-in period seem to be the most mentioned. After our thorough review, we believe that Tactical Research has succeeded again.

The TR336 Guardian comes in desert tan, full grain smooth leather and is Army Combat Uniform (ACU) Approved. The TR636 Maintainer comes in sage green, full grain smooth leather and was designed specifically for wear with the U.S. Air Force Airman Battle Uniform (ABU). The Tactical Research TR636 and TR336 are currently available for purchase at MilitaryBootsDirect.com.
