Considering the wide diversity of situations that persons in the military face daily; it is not hard to comprehend why military gear needs to be particularly designed to handle various conditions, and why military clothes need to include additional features not found in the clothes normally available for normal people. For one thing, military clothes are all a specific array of colors for camouflage reasons. Field jackets that are an additional kind of military jackets have a concealed hood, a snap-up storm flap, drawstrings around the waist, hood and bottom of the jacket; detachable liners, a Velcro neck closure that enables the collar to be worn up or down, and Velcro cuffs in the sleeves for attaching gloves in colder weather. In the Advanced Protective Combat Uniform System there are 5 jackets; the Level III Pullover, the Level IV Windshirt, the Level V Soft Shell Jacket, the Level VI Rain Jacket and the Level VII Insulated Parka. The Pullover is made of Powerstretch fabric and is amazingly warm bearing in mind its light weight; it is very breathable and moisture wicking and can be worn in a vast assortment of temperatures. There are furthermore touch points on the inner surface to optimize moisture management. The Windshirt is very water repellant and is furthermore very lightweight, naturally it is highly impervious to high winds and keeps warmth in. The Windshirt may be worn under other layers for extra warmth. The Soft Shell is designed for stretching as well and is specially treated to protect against dirt, grime and water; it is highly repellant to wind and water and is furthermore breathable and moisture wicking. The Rain Jacket is incredibly light weight, weighing in at less than 1 lb while at the same time providing outstanding water protection. It possesses a concealed hood in the collar and coated pockets. Last but not least is the Insulated parka that is the most efficient in cold weather defense. It dispels static charge, destroys odors, is water repellant and possesses hand warmers within the pockets.
