While it is certainly unfortunate, the fact is that many vacation spots are either designed and built for children or for adults—almost never for both. It may be true that such places offer options for both adults and children but both groups are rarely happy with the results. One way or another, the adults either end up spending the majority of their vacation traversing from children's hot spot to the next or the kids become lost in a maze of boring choices and spend the majority of the vacation wandering about looking for anything to relieve their boredom. Memphis, Tennessee, however, is not such a place. In Memphis, there really is plenty to do for both the adults and the children so that both groups will be happy. Whether the family is into rides and parks or prefers to take their fun outdoors for things like hiking, biking and other activities, there is sure to be plenty for everyone to do. Children and parents alike will love taking a ride down the mighty Mississippi River using the River Walk. Visitors are treated to the rare pleasure of following this major river upstream and it is sure to be an adventure that they will cherish for the rest of their lives. Memphis also has a lot on offer for the history buff. The possibilities that a visit to Memphis provides are quite mind boggling. For instance, the Memphis Belle, the bomber now made so infamous by the Hollywood movie of the same name is on display. This is one of the highlights of a visit to this vibrant city. The mighty Graceland is steeped in all the magic and history that surrounds it. This great mansion has been preserved exactly as it was when the King was alive. It was made famous by Elvis Presley and millions of fans go to Graceland every year to take part in the annual candlelight vigil held on August 16th— the anniversary of the King's death. The Peabody Hotel is certainly a place that both adults and children should find entertaining when they visit Memphis. A group of famous ducks has made a home on the roof of this famous hotel. These spoilt ducks come down in the elevator in style every morning round 10 to feed. Besides the ducks and tourists, even local big wigs find one excuse or the other to visit the hotel every year. Especially for the children (but conveniently located close to other forms of entertainment that are more suitable to adults), there is Libertyland Amusement Park. The place is renown for its vintage 1909 carousel but visitors also love the midway games, rides, and shows that take place there each night. If the weather does not permit a visit to the park, then consider taking the children to the Children's Museum of Memphis as it offers a host of entertaining and educational activities to keep children entertained. All in all, Memphis is one of those rare places where there is something exciting to do, regardless of what age group you belong to. Therefore, it’s a good idea to check into the wide assortment of activities offered by this exciting town. Make a list of the places you will visit this year and postpone the others to your next visit. One thing is for sure, you will visit Memphis again!
