The Cornhole games and the washers game are similar and both these games are entertaining to play with your family or friends. These games can be played in the backyard or in the lawn and since this is an outdoor game there are also called as the yard games or lawn games. To play this game any big space will do, it can be a picnic spot or the beach or park, all you need is enough space and a fun crowd to play this game. Both these games are pitching games. One should pitch the metal washers into the PV cup that is kept inside the washer box and the other should pitch corn bags into the holes of the cornhole boards. Though this sounds simple these games are very competitive. The purpose of this game is to get points by pitching the washers/corn-bags into the cup/hole. The rules of these games are similar but the rules are not the same as you may think. These are two different games and these necessitate separate discussions. Let's initiate and discuss the washers game first. This game is given different names and they are washers, washers pitching, washer toss, "Texas Horseshoes" or washoos. This game is modified and is played in different parts of the US. The washers game cannot be given an exact description since the washers boxes in which the cup is set varies in size, and the distance between the two boxes varies too. The Scoring method is also played differently. Though there are variations to the way the game is played, the fun factor from the game is not taken away. The size of the washer board does not matter at all, unless you are in a competition. The size of the board varies from 14"X14"X4" or 16"X16"X5.5". The washer on some boards have a single 4" PVC cup that is set in the middle and some boards have two cups where one cup is smaller that the standard 4" cup. The washers that are used to pitch inside the cup are normally made from rust proof iron and the size of this is 2.5" in diameter from the outside and a 1" in diameter from inside. Generally these boxes are set to 21" apart and this space can also be less. The player will stand behind or next to one of the boxes to pitch the washers into the opposite box. A player scores three if his washer falls inside the cup and one if it falls inside the box, but not inside the cup. The game goes on until one player scores 21 and the scoring pattern is so complicated that one takes time to score 21. There are lots of 'wash-outs' and 'rebuts' involved, whereby the second player can cancel the first player's points. The same also happens with the corn hole game. If you are preparing for a competition then it is advisable to buy an all weather corn hole set. The customary competition board is called the regulation board and this is 4"x2" in size. This board is made of plywood and this is a slanting board. The tailgating boards measure to 3"x2". All these boards are made up of plastic and these boards can measure either 4"x2" or 3"x2". The bags that are used for this game are made of waterproof cloth instead of the normal duck canvas and these bags are filled with palettes instead of real feed cotton. These bags are 6"x6" in size and weigh between 14 to 16 ounces as specified by the ACA which is the American Cornhole Association. The reactionary fans of the corn hole games will not want to even touch the an all weather corn hole game set because they don't know feel this is different but also because they do not like the idea that there is not dust when the bag hits the board. They believe that there must be dust to enjoy the game. This feeling is different for people who do not prefer the dust and they feel that the all weather cornhole board is ideal for them. They believe the game is all about fun and that too "clean fun" and there is a Big NO for the dust and dirt. The all weather corn hole game does not require much maintenance and is fun to play a game while the barbeque is being cooked. This board can be kept out the whole night and you will not have to worry about the due or the rain spoiling the board. The birds and squirrels will not touch the plastic palettes. You can carry the board to the beach or take it out for tailgating and all you can have is "clean fun". Both the corn toss and the washers games provide uninterrupted fun. However, they have other virtues as well: o They help people to unwind and thus to get rid of many health complications. o They also are a very good form of exercise and help to keep our body fit and balanced. o These games help to improve the motor reactions, eyes and limbs coordination in children. o They help a family to spend some quality time together. Many people suppose that both these games are originated from the horseshoe games and that there are a few changes made to this game to suit the local condition. In a way this may be right because these games are still being modified to suit time, and if this is not done this game will not survive and it is the known fact that nothing can survive if it does not change with time. .
