It is a good idea to change her name to Lady Gaga. It’s catchy but sounds like it’s the name of an old lady. Anyway, Gaga was born in March 28, 1986 to her Italian parents Joseph and Cynthia Germanotta in Yonkers, New York. Gaga was a shy little girl in a private Catholic School but showed a very promising musical ability. She started tinkering, err, playing piano at the young age of four and wrote her first piano ballad when she was 13 and have been performing at open mic nights in bars at the age of 14. At seventeen, she was admitted to Tisch School of Arts in New York. Juilliard School in Manhattan is one of her biggest frustrations but her decision of pursuing a music career in the mainstream music scene proved to be a wise decision. Billboard Magazine awarded Lady Gaga as the Rising Star of 2009. Lady Gaga was 19 when she made that big leap into the arms of the American music industry with fingers crossed and high hopes. She debuted in the rock music scene with her first album entitles “The Fame”, and as they always say, the rest is history. She has been landing on number ones in various music charts in many different countries and totally conquered the world when she landed on the number one spot in the Billboard Top Electronic Album Charts in the United States, making her the biggest-selling performer of 2009. The “Fame” album spawned great tracks like “Just Dance”, “Love Game”, “Paparazzi” and he gigantic smash hit song “Poker Face” which became one of the hottest dance tracks of this generation. “Just Dance” was also nominated for the Best Dance Recording category at the Grammy Awards. Her fresh new sound, exceptionally great lyrics and deep voice earned her the recognition as being one of the most talented singers and songwriters today. According to her, in one of her interviews, that she was greatly influenced by rock icons such as Queen, David Bowie, Madonna, Kylie Minogue and Michael Jackson. She is also a huge fashion fanatic and believes that it adds more life to her music come live performances and concerts. She also credits her mainstream success to the gay community and supports the gay community very openly. To date, Lady Gaga have sold over 20 million singles and almost 5 million albums in the US and all over the world. The Fame Ball Tour in March of 2009 contributed greatly to the success of her albums and singles in the United States after opening up for the New Kids on the Block and the Pussycat Dolls. It is because of her that Pop Electro Opera has made a mark as one of the best musical categories and has created millions of followers. The success of this new music genre will surely bring out more Lady Gaga’s in the future. It’s not from now and copy-cats will soon emerge.
