Lamy pens are used by choosey pen lovers the world over. But why all the fuss about this certain make of pen? One thing for certain most of these people will tell you it is because Lamy uses a careful balance of both great design and functionality into all of their writing instruments. Here we have a little look how the company started off and two of the well known brands that people love so much. Hopefully you will then understand why Lamy Pens are so popular and why the company has become so successful. The super thing about Lamy is that their collections are not overpriced and appeal to people on all budgets.

The Lamy pens company was established over 80 years ago in Germany by Josef Lamy who bought over Orthos pens. Josef Lamy actually was a sales representative for another famous pen brand (Parker Pens) in Germany at that time. In the early years Josef Lamy created writing instruments still under the name Orthos, the original company, and then under the name Artus. It was not until the early 1950s that Lamy Pens came into their own, and the company has been producing pens under that name since that date.

So why has Lamy pens remained so popular because of their pen design? Here it is a good idea to introduce the Lamy Safari pen range. The Lamy Safari is not an expensive pen, in fact it was originally aimed at the student market, which still make up an important market in mainland Europe. Lamy pens in the Safari range have been manufactured to be durable yet great looking. The main body of the pen is made of special ABS plastic and because of its triangular shape is extremely easy to grip. What strikes most people about Lamy safari pens is not only the great simple design, but the funky colours they are available in.

Next up is yet another award winning writing instrument for Lamy pens, the Lamy 2000. A simple yet elegant design still puts this pen in the spotlight even after forty years. The classic design really worked because Lamy has not had to make hardly any alterations to its design over the years. Torpedoe like in shape these Lamy pens are wonderful in the hand and a pleasure to write with. Pens can be found made out of different types of materials such as resins, wood and metal in this series.

These are just two of Lamy pens wonderful collection of which words really cannot describe properly.
