Yes, it is true that the Internet is available for everybody and that the Internet leveled the playing field between big players and small players. That means also between big businesses and small businesses. Internet Marketing is a strategy you need to have in your marketing strategy. Internet Marketing or also called online marketing is state-of-the art. Your business needs to be visible and present on the internet. If you still have doubts, read the following statistics: A growing proportion of Australians have access to the Internet at home. The rate of access has quadrupled in recent years, from 16% of Australian households in 1998 to 64% in 2006-07. At the end of December 2009, there were 9.1 million active internet subscribers in Australia. The population of Australia is 22 million. Less than 10% private internet users have to suffer dial-up speed. So the good news is that this type of internet connection is phasing out. More than 50% of connections are DSL connections and the new trend is going to wireless via data card, dongle or USB modem. 2.8 million subscriptions use this kind of Internet connection. No accurate numbers are yet available for internet usage via mobile phones, but it is also identified as a growing trend. So what does this mean for you as a business owner? In the United States 68.7% of all households had Internet access in 2009. In average the American watches 3 hours of TV every day and spends. A US government survey reveals that a person spends in average 12 min per day on the Internet for pure play, where a lot of the time spend on the internet was allocated to other as TV, dating services, messaging and email alerts. So how much time does a user spend in front of the Internet? A voluntary poll from www.makeuseof.com of 539 Internet users stated that " 12% spend more than 6 hours on the Internet " 28% spend between 4 and 6 hours on the Internet " 12% spend the whole day on the Internet and " 23% spend 2 to 3 hours on the Internet Please be reminded that today there is Internet Access in many companies. This is Internet access in general and not only for play. So what does this really mean for you as a business owner? There is a lot of Internet usage during each day. And it is not only restricted to computer use only. Internet access for computer becomes more mobile and Internet access via mobile phone devices is growing. Today already users find the restaurant of their choice while browsing the Internet and the menu. And the restaurant wins which is present on the Internet, displays their menu and appeals the most. As a restaurant owner do you want to miss out simply because you are not on the Internet or you didn't provide enough information? As a business owner do you want to miss out for the same reasons? Do you want to miss out because you ignored Internet marketing your business? Predominantly we tend to think that only the younger generations use the Internet for these kind of inquiries. But did you know that the Internet usage of people 65+ is the lowest with 35 percent and growing? And 35 percent is a big market share. What if your target group is younger? Then the market share would be even bigger. The statistics clearly show that marketing your business on the Internet is a must today, as it is having a mobile phone. Internet Marketing is a must-have component of your marketing strategy. If you don't want to retire within the next one, two or three years Internet Marketing needs to be added to your marketing plan. If you want to sell your business within the next two to five years you can increase your client base and therefore your business value with Internet Marketing dramatically. And when you plan to stay in business for a while, you have heard the facts and more importantly the trends. I don't miss those times where the only way to market was with brochures, newspaper ads and hand-outs.
