Your resume is a brief account of your academical and career related qualifications, experiences and achievements. A standard format of resume starts with the mention of persons name and contact detail viz. address, phone, email etc. And the body part contains neatly categorized detail information about your education like name of degree/diploma, years of passing, marks or ranks obtained etc., then some information about your past work experience like in which company you have worked earlier, name of the company, specify the tenure, your designation and brief about responsibilities held in that position then comes detail about your achievements and references. You can add as many as 5 past job details in your work profile. Never forget to mention your current or last jobs information. This is the most important thing an employer would look for in your resume.

Personal information like ethnicity, sex, marital status, age, and other details should be included at last.

Some of the latest resume formats differ from this traditional form of resume writing. Now a days, highest of education is mentioned along with the persons name at top of the page; followed by the total work experience and relevant experience both. For this is the most crucial information in any resume that any prospective employer would like to see first. Even people sending their resume on-line include this information in subject line of their email messages to attract HRs attraction and win favor.

Another important change is to include careers objective well above any other information in your resume. This is a 2 or 3 sentences description about candidates career projections. Your career objective informs your prospective employer about your confidence in your abilities and your vision for future growth and prospects.

Mostly you are expected to write describe your relevant qualification and experience in the covering letter it self and also explain why you are the best candidate for the position. One must not use superlatives or exaggerate the things in cover letter, provide crucial information about your career and its relevancy with the applied position in a very reasonable manner. Your covering should also give due respect to the HR or the advertiser and request to review your detailed profile as attached along.

Your achievements block can include and award/reward or a reputable position that you might have achieved during your education or working years. It can be about sports, arts or any social recognition. Avoid to include any political influences or achievements in your resume as this might be deemed as a negative quality for your candidature.

The world has shrunk into PCs and geographical distances are shrinking into maps. In this vast world; running on www, your resume is the first impression on your employer that can make or break your chances. A good resume reflects not only candidature for the proposed position but your attitude and your aptitude too. A wise employer will know, just by looking at your resume, whether you are a right candidate for his/her company or not. Format it in a desirable format, keep font sizes, colors and page margins to an acceptable extent, double check your contents for spelling and grammatical mistakes.
