By: Toby Jorette

How to jump in basketball requires lots of perseverance and training. But the instruction must be the right training or you are wasting your time and will never reach your utmost height ability. It is of great magnitude that you seek professional guidance and planning to pull off the best results. This article is just a starting point to help get you started in easy to do training exercises that are vital to vertical leap training. Consider that these are only a starting point and more training is required. More exercises can be found with links provided at the bottom of this article.
Prior to starting exercises perform a mix of static and dynamic stretching in order to warm up.
Note: A good sign of a warm up is a slight sweat.
The two exercises that I found to be notable are;

1. Squats
2. Toe Raises

1. Squats: Start by placing your feet at shoulder width apart. With a good solid stability begin to lower your backside until it is almost touching the ground. Then with an great push leap into the air using all your power and arms. The key is to work and use all your body movement in one fluid move to gain maximum momentum. Try starting at 20 and work your up this will help a great deal and improve on your body momentum.

2. Toe Raises: That’s what I know them as anyhow. This is where you set at the edge of a step with your toes the single part of your body holding you there. Then boost yourself up onto your toes. It’s almost like standing on your toes but you are doing it continuously the edge of a step, which is harder of course. Believe me it burns and when it does you will know it is working. Start at 20 and work your way up.

These are undoubtedly two of the exercises that will get you started. In a different article I go through another two methods that are unique and assured to get you going. Consider that the right training and work out is what you need to do. There are all sorts of opinions on what is the suitable way or the better way but I can candidly say that these two exercises will be part of them.
