Homosexuals within the Military

By: Aaron R Daniel

This argument is largely alluding to the 'cohesiveness' in military. Since, troopers live intimately- they are doing everything along, conservative heterosexuals could be threatened by the presence of someone who may use this intimacy. Furthermore, it was believed that the presence of homosexuals is typically disruptive to discipline and smart morale of the military. As Wallace (1994), a US soldier has put it, "When my roommates became a pair, they ceased to be members of our unit in a social and emotional sense. They became thus obsessive about one another and their relationship that they could not or would not fulfill their responsibilities to the rest of us. Their commitment to 1 another negated the required loyalty to the Army and to their fellow soldiers." Second purpose, as stated by Hackworth 'military is a life and death business not an equal opportunity employer' (as cited in Homosexuals in Military). Those supporting the ban of homosexuals are stressed that the military, unlike the civil service, is exempted from the equal chance act in recruitment and choice process. This was done so as to make sure that the purpose of military that is to safeguard the country is preserved.
On the other hand, those that agree to allow homosexuals within the military have used historical basis as ground of their argument. They conjointly got wind that the artistic minds of homosexuals could be utilized in logistics and those involving ways and intelligence.
Individually, the recruitment and choice method on the military shall not be biased by gender. This can conjointly remedy the decreasing number of military applicants. Omitting the gender bias on recruitment shall provide a bigger recruitment base for the military. Additionally to this, I conjointly believe that the military's choice process should be adequate enough to select from the recruited base those that have the qualifications, skills, skills, and characteristics that shall perform the duties and responsibilities in the military no matter one's gender. I strongly believe that one's sexual orientation, will not, one manner or another, affect his/her performance if that someone is serious of doing the tasks assigned to him/her. True indeed that military may be a life and death business and not an equal chance employer. Then why make such a big fuss on one's gender? Simply let everybody who are willing to be a part of it apply. And strengthen the choice method thus as to actually grasp, that among them are genuinely willing to safeguard the folks together with her/his life. We should be smart enough to grasp that not only males are the one who may try this- loyalty, patriotism, and every one alternative parts required to serve the country could be felt by anyone irrespective of their gender.
If there will be someone within the military, who is using his rank or position to require advantage of these below the ladder, then there is a need to test the choice process. On balance, why must they fret on these situations? They are all aware that joining a military is one,000 worse initiations than in fraternities. It's a check of their stamina, physically, emotionally and mentally.
