Helen Ga. Restaurants - Cafe International offers their guests a nice dinner or lunch on a deck overlooking a cascading mountain river nestled up in the scenic North Georgia Mountains. If this sounds appealing to you then this is a restaurant worth exploring. Guests have the option of dining indoors in a temperature controlled dining area, or to dine outside on a nice wooden deck overlooking the cold waters of the Chattahoochee River flows just below the deck, and through the mountains. Of all the Helen Ga. Restaurants, I have to vote Café International as one of my all time favorites. The food has never once disappointed me, and the service I receive from a warm and friendly staff has kept me returning here well over one hundred times in the last twenty years. The mood at café International is warm lighting, fairly quiet and low key, family and kid safe, yet perfectly suited for a romantic dinner in the mountains of North Ga. there is a very small bar area, and the deck is split into a upper and lower section. There are wooden picnic tables to dine on, and the deck is covered by a roof with a handful of ceiling fans making it a perfect place to dine in the shade on a hot afternoon, or during inclement weather. My all time favorite menu item is the Lasagna. I swear by their lasagna. It is delivered on a hot dish with oozing melted cheeses, a perfectly spiced red sauce, and chunks of ground beef along with piping hot French bread. My second favorite is the Stuffed Cheesy Shells, which are cooked just right with the perfect thickness of a very unique tasting cheese. And at some point you have to try the Chicken Parmigiana. The choice between the Lasagna, and the Chicken Parmigiana is always a close draw. Café International also serves an excellent BBQ plate with cole slaw, and potato chips. One would typically not expect a restaurant of this style to offer up great BBQ, but the BBQ at this place could compete with about any BBQ restaurant around. Other menu items range anywhere from a delectable Lemon Pepper Trout to Prime Rib and Alpine chicken. There are also a handful of German dishes available such as German Wurst Platters, their well-known Kasseler Rippchen, and the only German food I've grown attached to is the Schlacht. The beer and wine selection at this unique Helen Ga. Restaurant offering a broad selection of house, red, and white wines such as chardonnay, and pinot grigio. Café International also serves a variety of German wines as well as a selection of American and German beers. There are also budget conscious kids meals starting at just under five bucks including choices such as hot dogs, hamburgers, and spaghetti. And make sure you keep plenty of room for some of the best desert you have ever tasted such as their famous Black Forest Cheesecake, or their moist and tender melt in your mouth German chocolate cake. So if you're visiting Helen Georgia, and considering the choices of Helen Ga. Restaurants to dine at, put Café International somewhere at the top. You will get great food, exhilarating atmosphere, excellent warm and friendly service, all at a great price.
