We all like some brands more than other, each day we choose to use one project over the other without much thought. But for big corporations like Coca Cola or McDonald's, the small choices we make every day spell profit. And it's a real war to make you choose a brand in favor of another, because after all, the brand is one of the main factors that makes you buy a product ( or so they would want it to be).
On June 4, the BRANDZ Top 100 Most Powerful Brands chart from Millward Brown Optimor, was released. The ranking is based on the brand's value in dollars and it's unique for it combines financial data with consumer research. The top then brands (according to Optimor) in the world are:
* Google - 66 billions
* General Electric - 62 billions
* Microsoft - 55 billions
* Coca Cola - 44 billions
* China mobile - 41 billions
* Marlboro - 39 billions
* Wal-Mart - 36 billions
* Citi - 33 billions
* IBM - 33 billions
* Toyota - 33 billions
There's no surprise there (at least for me). Google is on the first place and last year it was on the seventh place. If that's not astonishing growth then I don't know that is. As one can see, Google is not just the fastest growing company on the Internet but the fastest growing brand too.
Some say they're afraid of Google becoming a corporatist monster, but I don't think so. What do you say?
