Gas Saving Suggestions And Recommendations For Better Car Performance Part 2

By: GARKO

Recently, I have been dilligently working to dig up any additional handlings for procuring reduced fuel usage and I dug up a bonus. The tips that actually work to increase fuel mileage also save you on additional auto repairs brought on by poor driving habits.

If you are not spending hundreds of dollars per year to maintain your auto under fender to fender warranty or you have a self destructive streak which genuinely derives sick pleasure from dragging your crippled automobile to the repair shop and being taken to the cleaners with extra auto repairs and having your auto sit for days at the repair shop while you take the bus and stress over it like a father-to-be in a maternity ward then perhaps do well to listen up these bits of advice. Saving cash on gasoline and on auto repairs are cousins.

Take into consideration what else that cash you are trashing could do for you. Take a cruise? Buy a better vehicle? Install a home theater system? For sure there are more useful things you can do with your cash than pouring it into your automobile!

In 2006 the average cost per gallon of fuel was $2.1516.
Now it is $3.1107 considering all 50 states.
In 2004 the cost of one single barrel of oil was fifty dollars and people were outraged.
In 2007 the cost of a barrel of oil is $100 and noone complains because folks have gone into despair.
Of course, the rapid devaluation of the dollar is another factor. It can be observed that while the cost of fuel has increased, the dollar going down has also made the cost of fuel seem to go up more rapidly than it actually has. Overall, it is a severe crisis for the US economy and fuel prices.
If you are not waving the white towel and still want to maximize your fuel efficiency and keep as much money as possibly in your pocket and out of the greedy, greasy coffers of oil industry executives then there are actions you can take.

Do you remember the episode of the original Star Trek where Kirk, the great commander of the Starship Enterprise ends up in a world that is paralleling Chicago in the gang era and he is attempting to drive an old style auto and control the shifting of gears and barely makes his way down the street with many fits and starts and convulsions? That was not a training manual! The point? Be a smooth driver. Frequent short stops aren't helpful for your vehicle or your car's fuel performance. So predict stops whenever you can. Permitting your car wind down to a stop is a good way to improved fuel mileage

Adhere to the speed limit. Speeding is a very expensive way to go. Flying over the maximum allowed speed may complete your trip in less time, but it also results in more trips to the gas pump and maybe even some unplanned for trips to the local traffic court. Oh, and regarding traffic court… be VERY cautious about driving around there… that is where all the bad drivers have to go… that is one reason. Another thing to be aware of is that the city usually figures that they can give you another traffic violation ticket while you are in the area since you were unlucky to get the first one. They will set something up like having a “no turn on red light” sign in a place that is hard to see and they will give you a steeper penalty. I was observant enough to spot just such a trap in downtown Pasadena There was a sign that said that violation at that traffic light would be a $380 fine! Can’t say that these people do not possess a sense of humor!

Here are some facts about driving at higher speeds. Faster driving is going to retard your fuel performance the faster you drive. So the faster you go, the harder the fuel efficiency hit on your automobile. Driving seventy five mph as opposed to 65 mph will retard your fuel performance by 10 percent. Crusing along at 70 mph rather than 55 mph will lower your retard your fuel performance by EIGHTEEN percent. So stop treating speed limit signs as suggestions and slow down. Adhering to the speed limit is the safest and cheapest way to drive.

Most other suggestions are simply contradictory or wrong... I found several articles that say don't use your airconditioner which is great if you are a resident of or it is 100 degrees in Manhattan! Then I found one article that advises to keep your vehicle's windows open for city driving but to keep your AC on when you are on the freeways because if you have the windows open while driving above 55MPH adds drag which reduces MPG. Who's right? Who's wrong? Who cares? Does it reduce fuel consumption? No, probably not!

The most genuine solution to reduce your fuel consumption, with gas prices in the $3-4.50 range up and down over the last year or so is to sever your umbilical cord... the one that chains you to the gas pump and get free from your chains of slavery to the oil companies and....

Convert to a hydrogen engine!
What if you never needed to buy another gallon of fuel again?
Convert your fuel engine to hydrogen.
If you do a partial (hybrid) conversion then you can expect to see improved fuel mileage of up to 30% maybe more.
If you do this and also add acetone to your gas tank (which will save you another 25% or so) then you will have lowered your fuel consumption by a combined 50%! Put in about 2-3 ounces of acetone per 10 gallons of fuel and less fuel will vaporize and you reduce your fuel consumption by 25% or more.
If you do a full gas to hydrogen conversion then you will never have to purchase another gallon of fuel for the rest of your life. It is far easier than you might think, costs hardly anything, safeguards the environment and you will have the pleasure of knowing that you are conserving resources instead of using up more than your fair share.
