For Fans of Biofuel...Bad News

By: GARKO

When people living at the Riverbend Farms subdivision saw that a yucky black, foul smelling gelatinous goo had started to appear at the Black Warrior River, which runs through their backyards, Mark Storey, a former petroleum plant worker, hopped into his boat to follow it upstream to discover its source.
A cocktail of Oil and grease from a biodiesel plant had spewed from the plant.
AS it turned out the source turned out to be a converted chemical factory that had been converted into the first ever biodiese plant in Alabama, a refinery that intended to process soybean oil into earth-friendly fuel.
"I'm in favor of the plant," a resident said. "But it was shocking that a plant like that would generate anything that could low into the river without taking the necessary safeguards."
But the oily sludge on the water returning, and a lab inspection of a sample taken in March 2007 revealed that greasy sludge spewing from the plant - was 450 times higher than regulations typically allow, and that it had traveled at least two miles downstream.
The spills, at the Alabama Biodiesel Corporation plant here about 17 miles from Tuscaloosa, are very much like others that have come from biofuel plants in the Midwest. The discharges, which has killed birds and fish, have many folks without an understanding over the apparent illogic of environmental damage from an industry that is solely based on the promise of blue skies and clear streams.
Iowa leads the country in biofuel production, with forty two ethanol and biodiesel refineries in production and eighteen more plants under construction, according to the Renewable Fuels Association. In the summer of 2006, a Cargill biodiesel plant in Iowa Falls illegally disposed of one hundred and thirty five THOUSAND gallons of liquid oil and grease, and it ran into a nearby tributary killing hundreds of fish.
According to the trade groups biodiesel is nontoxic, biodegradable and appropriate for vulnerable environments, but some environmental scientists have warned that position miscalculates its potential environmental impact.
"They're really regarded as environmentally friendly, as you would expect," said Bruce P. Hollebone, an environmental researcher with Environment Canada in Ottawa and one of the world's leading experts on the potential ecological impact of vegetable oil and glycerin spills.
"The stuff is edible, after all," Mr. Hollebone said. "But as is the case with a large number of organic materials, oil and glycerin deplete the oxygen content of water quite rapidly, and that will suffocate fish and other organisms. As for how it affects the birds, a vegetable oil spill is equally as lethal as an Exxon Valdeez kind of oil spill."
In my viewpoint I think the entire mess is “for the birds” and I know that there is a considerably more optimum alternative.
For those who are unfamiliar, WATER4GAS is sharing information for a fee which people can use in their garage or wherever to build a small gizmo which infuses hydrogen into the gas/air mixture that their automobile runs on.
What this does is make bite sized particles out of the particles that the engine burns as fuel. Because of the smaller size the engine gets to use considerably more of it.
With WATER4GAS you can reasonably expect to improve your MPG by 12%. In reality though many are obtaining thirty to fifty percent improvement or significantly more. Those particles "musta" been pretty darn big in some engines before. But with W4G they are made usable so you can improve your MPG.
It also helps make emissions substantially cleaner.
This information has been purchased by over NINE THOUSAND individuals already and happy members number about 99%! AND it has killed less birds than baseball pitcher Randy Johnson

Songwriter, entrepreneur, consumer advocate and activist, GARKO, has found that adding water to the gasoline in your car gives you diluted gasoline :). But he can show you one of the best alternative ways to save on gas which is to by adding hydrogen into the fuel system For a list of current fuel prices in your neighborhood email garko@startlingdiscoveries.info
