Focus on the Positive In my life, I've met many people that focus on the negative. They don't mean to do it; it's not at all a conscious decision. They have been conditioned to accept routines that they believe to be normal. In the mornings, they read the newspaper or watch the television news, garnering information about the bad events that have occurred and were chosen to be broadcast. That data then becomes the foundation for their day as it is never far from their conscious minds. As they go through their day, the most extreme news items are often the topics of conversation. Others discuss the horrible events of the day; knowing what is happening is their way of fitting into the 'water cooler' discussions that are certain to occur. In fact, in many social situations people are expected to know all of the details of the latest news stories. During the conversational gatherings, as the group focuses on a single topic, a collective consciousness occurs. That is a consciousness that was formed by dwelling on the negative. The energy created hangs like an oppressive fog in the air, making for an unwelcome, uncomfortable atmosphere. Think about what your life would be like if, for even just three days, you chose not to participate in the news. Imagine the relief of giving up newspapers, television news, Internet news, news on the radio and discussing any news events. How much freedom and time would that give you? How much happier would you be? There is a television commercial that says, "Why is it that when we go to a new place where no one knows us, we are most like our true selves?" Do you savor the moments that you feel truly happy and wish that there were more special occasions and vacations in which to express your true self? There are many ways to get back to the core of who we are, our true selves. Yes, a vacation is one way to do that. But why wait for that day in the future to arrive to be true to who we really are? Then it will last for only a week or two before it is time to return to living in the rut. Why not make that oasis a part of our daily lives? Isn't your life for living? If you could choose to have the freedom to feel that 'vacation feeling' every day of the year, would you do so? If your answer to that was affirmative, then learning and applying the 11 Forgotten Laws will bring changes to your life. Right now you might not understand how you will get there. This is a tried and true process that you'll have to trust. Right now, you can choose to begin the process to make that transformation. Like everything else, it's your choice.
