If you are planning to take a break, perhaps you would like to consider Prague as a possible destination. Prague is one of the most popular city in Czech Republic. This is a medieval city and many tourists come back year after year to enjoy short holiday breaks. There are a plethora of hotels to choose from, and dozens of destinations to visit. For sure, your trip to Prague will not be a boring one. Here are some suggestions on sights to see when on a Prague city break.

Old Town Square

The moment you step in Old Town Square, it's as if you have gone back in time for several hundred years. It is one of the two times square in the city. The other one is just five minutes walk away. In here, you can see some of the oldest and most magnificent buildings and churches. Old Town Square started off as the central marketplace in Prague. As the city evolved, dozens of buildings were erected around the Town Square. Each has its own intriguing story to tell.

Prague Castle

Prague castle is another destination that you must visit. If you are going in on a walking tour, this destination would most likely be included. This is where the country's elite once resided - the kings, emperors, and presidents. The entire castle spread across 570 meters in length.

St. Vitus Cathedral

Within the Prague Castle lies many magnificent churches and cathedrals. The St. Vitus Cathedral is one that draws the most attention. To many people, the St. Vitus Cathedral is the Prague Castle. It is one of the most important spiritual symbol in Czech.

Mala Strana

At the foothills of Prague Castle lies Mala Strana. Mala Strana is a cluster of beautiful buildings. The ancient burgher houses lies alongside a calm river. Because of its beauty, many professionals like to come to this destination to shoot videos and commercials. This is a settlement with its own story to tell. Twice, it was almost destroyed in battle. In place of the buildings that were destroyed, Renaissance buildings and palaces were erected. When you cross over from Old Town to Prague Castle, you will pass through Mala Strana. Do take a few moments to enjoy the sheer beauty of the settlement.

Malostranske Namesti (Lesser Town Square)

At the heart of Mala Strana lies Malostranske Namesti. It serves as the main tram stop for the settlement. So that's like the central market of Mala Strana. Expect to find quaint houses, bars, restaurants, and small shops amidst the old buildings.

Everything about Prague city is tranquil and beautiful. The entire city is rich with heritage and history. If you ever get bored with sight seeing, you can always do some shopping in Old Town Square. Lots of local products are available for sale there. They are usually cheaper than imported goods. All in all, Prague is a great place to take your mind off work.
