One of the most state-of-the-art zoos on earth, everything that can possibly be done to make the animals feels as if they are still in the wild is done here at MetroZoo. The Miami climate means that animals from the similar climates of Africa and Asia can remain here very comfortably. Animals are allowed to roam free and intermingle with other creatures that they would naturally mix with in the wild. It looks more of a safari than a zoo, and the animals look visibly happier as a result. New arrivals at the zoo include the critically endangered baby black rhino, as well as the equally endangered young addux named Abacus. Other creatures found here are the Cuban crocodile, a family of gibbons and the breathtaking white tiger. A brand new addition to the park is its special Giraffe Feeding Station. It is open daily from 11 am until 4 pm and for the price of $2 you can climb up to giraffe head height and feed the giraffes yourself. The American Bankers Family Wings of Asia Aviary is one of the prime attractions at the zoo, and houses hundreds of species of rare and exotic birds, including the one and only known captive Sultan Tit in the whole of the western hemisphere. Many of the birds are endangered, so this could be the only place that you can see them for yourself. There are also plenty of things to see besides the beautiful animals. A variety of shows are presented throughout the zoo by the Zootoupia arts group, as well as by visiting performers. Getting around MetroZoo, because of its vast size, is easier on wheels, and the zoo provides two and four seated bicycle carriages for rental at its entrance gate. Or you are free to explore the grounds at your own leisurely pace on foot. Your children will love the MetroZoo. As well as looking at the exotic animals, they can now play happily for hours in the new playground, and get up close to some animals of their own in the MetroZoo petting zoo area.
