After having the experience of using (for several years) a Jenn-Air oven (which I LOVED) and, after seeing infomercials on the Nuwave and the Flavorwave, I always wanted to try a halogen table top oven. Then one day (while channel surfing) I spotted the Fagor. I cooked in my Fagor the very same day I received it. I also noticed the second I turn it on, I could instantly feel the heat. But honestly, I had no idea how long to cook the food (even though it contained a cook book. So, instead, I watched the infomercial a few times before I took the cooking plunge). I gave it my best try and prepared some chicken tenders. Without a cookbook and while paying close attention to the food cooking, for my very first meal I was VERY impressed. It cooks very well, crisps the outside of foods (without drying it out or adding oil) and most importantly cooks VERY fast. I've made meatloaf recently (which surprisingly enough took only 15 minutes as opposed to 40 - 45 minutes), chicken breasts, country pork ribs, pork chops, pizza and egg rolls! The food (meat wise) that I prepared was very juicy, and flavorful. I've even re-heated the food in the Fagor and it still gives me a moist piece of meat, unlike heating food in the microwave. As for my egg rolls and pizza ... they turned out perfect in about 10 minutes (possibly less). The glass bottom cleans easily in hot soapy water (if needed to be cleaned at all); typically - and after it cools down - I just wipe it with a damp paper towel. If you really cooked up a storm (and it's a mess) then you can use the auto-clean/defrost feature - which I thought was pretty cool. I also tried cooking food straight from the freezer. In other words - rock hard solid - chicken breasts. In one word: Amazing! One item - in addition to the fagor or, what ever halogen tabletop oven you should choose - I am going to highly suggest you pick up a halogen oven cook book. The cook book that's included in the Fagor - and from what I gather any of the halogen tabletop oven - is not as complete as expected BUT, it's a pretty good guide to have on hand when cooking your first meal. All halogen ovens are powered by a very powerful halogen light, the heat/air inside the oven is distributed by way of a fan that distributes the air evenly and in a clock-wise circular motion which results in a super fast baking and cooking process. I would also presume that all halogen potable ovens are up to 75% more energy efficient. But, most importantly cooks up to 50% faster than our traditional ovens. The exterior of the Fagor oven holder is a glossy black. I do happen to like the glass bowl much better than a "plastic" bowl for health reasons and durability. The Glass lid has a stainless steel extender ring. I also highly suggest for added support and safety reasons, when lifting the lid your other hand is wearing an oven mit or holding a pot holder when placing the "hot top" into the lid holder. Another nice bonus that I happened to like is the two stackable cooking racks which could be used simultaneously (cooking vegies), the nonstick fry pan (great for no-oil frying) and the tongs for lifting foods or the rack from out of the bowl. Perfect for grilling, broiling, baking, steaming, and roasting. All in all - now - I hardly use my conventional oven and now only use my Fagor's tabletop oven.
