The island can also claim the oldest parliament of the Western Hemisphere at an astonishing 375 years old. We became an independent land in 1966. 9. Weather - Out of the Caribbean hurricane path, Barbados is home to temperate year-round temperatures of 28 to 30 degrees C. As the most easterly of the Caribbean islands, the trade winds blowing off of the Atlantic provide a constant gentle breeze.
