There are two possible ways in entering and exiting Rome. You can come in and out of Rome via plane or via ship. In traveling in and out of Rome, the best airport would be Fiumicino Airport in Rome. FIUMICINO AIRPORT TO ROME AND VICE VERSA VIA CAR In going there by car one would be passing by The Grande Raccordo Anulare or the GRA. This leads to the A91 Rome-Fumicino highway which is direct to the airport. The journey here would take about 45 minutes. VIA TAXI In going to the airport via taxi you would still be passing by the same route and the journey would take about 45 minutes and it will cost about EUR€40 to €50. VIA TRAIN If you hop on a train in Roma Termini station this train would run non-stop directly to the Fiumicino Airport. The train's first journey to the airport is at 05:52 and the last trip would be at 22:52. The travel takes about 31 minutes. The fare in this station is EUR€11. The other station is from Roma Tiburtina station at the Metropolitan FM1 train service. This train would start to leave at 05:05 and then every fifteen minutes at 05:33 to 20:33 and from 20:33 to the last train at 22:33 the train would leave every 30 minutes. The travel would take about 45 minutes. The fare is around EUR€5.50. VIA BUS The the bus from the Cornelia metro station which starts departure at 06:45 and the last trip as at 21:35. The travel from this station to the airport takes about 75 to 90 minutes. If you come from the Magnolia metro station, the bus starts taking passengers at 06:15 and its last trip is at 21:45. The journey would take about 40 minutes. Then from Roma Tiburtana rail station the journey would take about 30 to 45 minutes. This bus is a night service bus and only travels at 00:30 to 03:45 then at 9:30, 10:30, 12:25 and finally at 17:30. The one way fare in all three bus stations is EUR€4.50. FROM CIVITAVECCHIA TO ROME However, if you wish to explore Rome's water beauties the best cruise would be in the Civitavecchia Port. Civitavecchia Port is not in Rome however it is near Rome and is about 80 kilometers from the city. You could enter Rome from Civitavecchia Port in 3 ways. VIA BUS Most ports offer their passengers a direct transfer from the cruise ship to a bus. In taking the bus it usually takes about a 60 to 80 minute drive in going to Rome. The fare rate of this direct cruise ship shuttle transfer varies from line to line. VIA CAR OR TAXI In transferring to a private car or to a taxi, it will usually cost lesser than the bus. This will cost about EUR€41.35 although it will still take 60 to 80 minutes of travel. VIA TRAIN Entering Rome from Civitavecchia Port through train is by far the quickest land transport. There are often two or three one way trains every hour from the Civitavecchia train station to Roma Termini. These trains would cost about EUR€4.50 which would take 60 to 80 minutes of travel. There are also an hourly InterCity train that would cost about EUR€12.50 but the travel would be only around 45 minutes.
