As the unique mile square neighborhood of Hoboken sits deeply in the shadows of the fast paced cosmopolitan metropolis of New York you could be forgiven for thinking that all the associated celebrities would choose to reside across the Hudson. However a short stroll around the neighborhood or a few chats with local residents will tell you that a number of famous faces have chosen to make Hoboken their home. Reality TV has created its current most famous son, Buddy “The Cake Boss” owner of Carlo’s Bakery. Anyone trying to navigate Washington Street between 1st and Newark on the weekend can’t fail to notice the block-long line of tourists waiting, rain or shine, for their slice of TV Americana. Buddy might have put Hoboken on the map, but if those tourists were to hang around they might be lucky enough to add a few more signatures to their autograph books. On a stroll around town they might run into former NJ Governor Jon Corzine (to be fair, as Governor, he had to live in NJ, so who wouldn’t choose Hoboken over Trenton?!). Another much publicized resident is New York Giants Quarterback, Eli Manning. He may not be as good as his brother Peyton, but they have the same amount of Superbowl rings – at least until the conclusion of Superbowl XLIV! Many people choose to live in Hoboken even when they don’t work in Manhattan, and Eli’s choice to live here is a great advert for how convenient the Westerly commute is. Natalie Morales, a presenter of the Today Show is a face seen daily across the nation. Natalie has lived in Hoboken with her family for many years and as a keen runner is often seen out on training runs around town. These are just three of a much longer list. Is there anyone famous on your block? Celebrity or not, all Hoboken homes are normally found with the help of local realtors, of which http://empiregroup.com is one of the most prominent. The main drag of Washington Street is sprinkled liberally with many real estate brokers, so finding one should not be a problem. The Hoboken real estate market can be somewhat of a minefield if you try to navigate it without the help of an experienced guide. However don't let that be a deterrent in your search for your dream Hoboken condo. Who knows this time next year you may be living in the square mile with a celebrity neighbor. Obviously, famous people are just people at the end of the day, and they recognize the benefits, as we all do, of living in the unique mile square of Hoboken. For some it’s the commute, for others it’s the community. Some came for one reason but have stayed for another. It’s a place with a great history and a great future and for those of you who don’t live here (yet!), come and pay us a visit and grab a pastry from the Cake Boss on your way home.
